Hi!!! I try to make it up for you Always use what the owners manual tells you, eg the weight and mineral or synthetic always use what is stated in the manual. Car manufactures spend millions of dollars on what oil is best for the engines they build, some 18 year old from an auto store doesnt even know the differance between oils. Anyway if your engine is using that much oil in 5 weeks I think its time to take it to a workshop and get it checked out, could have worn rings, value stem seals, head gasket, heaps of things could be wrong. Get a pro to check it out.

I read it and almost made the same mistake... LOL! I've seen a few VW heads on this forum, but I really wouldn't know if they could help you in this department. I haven't seen a VW project on the magazine, either. There may have been one or two, but I never seen it. Any way, You just may want to go to a VW forum site. European cars aren't a regular sight on here. It's interesting to say the least. Vw has done really nice designs over the past 8 years and that R34-R35 is rockin'. I would consider an engine swap from one of those 2 cars into your Golf, but if you decide to spend on that kind of work, you may as well get the R34/R35 out right. Those two cars are really cool. That's my take on it. I hope I've enlightened you in some small way.
How you drive is your buisness. Remember that you're not the only one on the road! Educate, don't hate.
