Recently I was on e-bay looking for engine parts and I came across a performance chip that claimed it could give you 50+ extra horse power and better gas milage. The name of the product was GT-Tuner performance chip. Maybe someone could tell me whether or not it would be a good by for only $19.95 +shipping.

I wouldn't be lured into getting some thing like that for the price that they are selling it for, bro. Good tuning chips go for a lot more and requires some module to module programming for it to work well. Bully dog and Banks engeneering has products for diesel engine out put. They may have some thing to enhance your rides over all out put via the PCM. That's the first thing you should always keep an eye out for. The price. Especially when the known chips out there are selling for way more and are well known and tested. I would be a little weary. Research the product a bit. See who makes them first. That price is nice, but it makes me wonder.

Yeah I thought that it might be a scam or something but if it's only going to reset my PCM there's no need. Around january I'm getting a PCM from Milzy motorsports for around $106.

That's not bad. Is it plug and play or do you have to do some software tweaking with a hand held?

I it's just pnp but, I got to send a core so I'm just going to look around in junk yards to find one because I don't want to send my factory PCM. I couldnt stand not driving for 6 days and plus that is my only means of transportation.

I know that the PCMs and ECUs for cars from 2000 and up are burned with the permanent vin and aspects of the cars performance on some models. It may not be possible to use another PCM/ECU for some thing like that. Look into that to see what you can do. It gets a little complicated and I'm sorry for bringing up all this info, but it's better to be safe than sorry. I wouldn't want to have you spend money on a venture if it doesn't work out for you. You know? Ask the people you are planning to use if it's possible to do that with another PCM/ECU before getting it.

Thanks for telling me. I probably would have done that not even thinking and ended up with a part I cant use. I don't know if they just use differnt codes or if they just flash a new one. I will be sure to ask before I think about buying it.

talking about performance chips, i'm thinking of getting a BullyDog performance chip for my sister's Ram SRT-10. she wants a little more ump to the Ram without me making serious power and having fun testing my parts out on it.

It sounds ok to me. An extra 10 to 15 horses can be gained with one of those units. Fuel consumption can be altered for the better as well. They have the DLC plug in type of programmer as well. All that unit does is tweak the PCM to alter engine performance a bit. It's a cool way to get some ponies with out having to bolt on stuff. It's not a whole lot that you gain, but it's well worth the money if it improves fuel economy.
