Hey guys, I really want to get into racing and I can't figure out what to do or where to go first. Do I need to go to a few shows and watch some races first or what??? And as far as going to shows and stuff, where are they? What am I looking for? What should I be doing?

look locally or go to the closest sema show, lol.
and to get into racing all you need is a car, and good driving ethics...
okay just money, car, and the knowledge.
get some automotive classes, and don't o street racing, go track racing...

Ok, I think I have a different attitude on this. I think that street racing is easier to get into and actually much higher stakes at times, or could be just for fun. Can suit your lifestyle, whatever it is. But I would advise not a sema, but a Nopi show, or just something local, but Nopi is a good way to start out.
Also, the main reason why I play devil's advocate alot for street racing is this: 1) It is cheaper 2) It is easier to get into and actually race & 3)It can give you some great practice for the track racing when you get the money

There are classes all around the country that teach proper use of a car on track. If it's tuning you want, the shows are great. Street racing for a novice is not suggested and because you've driven a few years on the road does not make any one a good racer. Car dynamics change the faster you go and a slide at 50mph is not the same as a slide doing 25mph. It's down right impossible to control at 80 or even 100mph. Learn on a track and if your car is not built or tuned correclty to handle what you mentally propose, get it done up right. It's all about car dynamics. Even the best drivers in the best built cars fail at control. Things to think about. That's all I'm saying.
How you drive is your buisness. Remember that you're not the only one on the road!
