Hi, i'm 16, I just got my first car.  It's a 1995 Honda Civic.  It's a 2-door with a 5-speed manual transmission. I'm not sure what is under the hood, or what platform is running on.  My friends and I want to tune up our cars and possibly do a little racing... only problem is... none of us know much about cars or where to start with tuning our rides    My main question is where can i learn more about cars and car parts?

If anyone could let me know what are some good things to change/replace in my car and what i'm gaining (added hp, less weight, better handling, etc.) i'd be very appreciative.  If anyone would like to suggest specific products to buy PLEASE link them or just say what it is so that i can google it.

What model is it? Is it an EX, DX, ext? I have a 1995 Honda civic 4 door. You can check it out on my cardomain. The first thing you need to do it figure out what kind of engine is in the car. Post back when you find out.

You can always start with a cold air intake by K&N. Your looking at $150 to $200, But a 10 est. HP gain.

Part # for your specific car:   63-1017
Link to buy it from the k&n Website:  http://www.knfilters.com/search/product.aspx?Prod=63-1017
Estimated HP gain: 5.3
Price: $163 without tax & shipping

Alright, that sounds good. I was looking at getting a new short shifter, I'm not sure what to get... I was looking at the Skunk2 Short Shifter.  It comes in a double bend and single bend option. What's the difference?

I found it on http://www.andysautosport.com/honda/1992_1995_civic/transmission/short_shifters/skunk2/

The way you go is all up to you of course but with my 95 Civic I went with Intake, Headers and Exhaust first of all. Then Suspension I got Tien. Then adjustable cam gears, Skunk 2 Strut bars, Apexi V-Tec Controller. And so on tell you one thing that car was fun.

Haha, i bet.  I know the strut bars were just replaced by the previous owner.  But I im going to put in a cold air intake, short shifter, and lower the suspension a bit to start and then work my way from there.
