I heard of a man who purchased the very first Corvette ever produced in the U.S. back in what ever year that was and stowed it away in his barn. For many years it stood in the barn jacked up on its sub frame and covered all up. When the old man died his family sold the farm they lived on for many years in the mid 80s with all the stuff that was on the property. The new owners doing their clean up found the covered Vette in pristene condition, albeit dusty. The new owner of the farm being a Vette fanatic cleaned the car up, restored the engine back to its glory and drove it once a week around the block so as not to put on too many miles from the original 3 miles it had on it when he found it.
Any way, the rason I say this story is to back up raceratheart. I wish I was so lucky.

ya... true. to go back to an earlier post, when it comes to any sort of valuable camaro(ss, z28, yenko, copo, nikki) there is no point which it is too rusty. ive seen camaros that had a rusty frame, on blocks and not a square inch of usuable sheet metal, and a seized motor and still go for $10,000+. it's ridiculous

Jeez! That is rediculous. But, then what about all those 240z and 510s and so on. Once you find a Japanese car from the mid to late 60s, they aren't in very useable condition, but man they are valuable. Any one with cash flow and the willingness to refurbish them... You get the point.

What you all need is to be in the middle of your import-domestic argument and all get put down by the 3rd tier, exotic. There are pluses and negatives to both domestic and import and only an uninteligent person will claim that one or the other is "superior" over the entire other tier.

Good point. Personally I think exotics cost too much money for what you get though. But what do I know

look at is this way. A veyron goes 253 for apox 1.2 mill. How much would it cost to bump say a honda civic or a mustang to that kind of speed, handling, comfort, etc.... Prob more than that.

Unless you bump a NSX or a kr500gt Mustang. They both are super cars in their own right and all you need is some one with a little cojones and coin to make one into some thing unreal and it still would be less than what an exotic would cost. I've seen streetable imports, (the Skyline and Supra), push 1100hp with a top speed of 260mph (give or take) and cost way less than what an exotic costs. I'll stick with cheap fun under $150k any day. Now, if I had a $150k, I'de be golden! LOL!

I know what you mean, bro. It's just that the conversation went a little to the left with exotic cars and how much it would cost to build an import to do the same thing. It's been done. You know? Imports have been built to go as fast as exotics and it cost way less to build one up, compared to an exotic. That's all. 1000hp is a bit extreme for a fun drive. Can you imagine the fuel a thing like that would consume? LOL!

I'm paying almost $2.79 U.S. a gallon for regular. I don't use regular, though. My Rav4 runs like poop on it. Higher compression engines like higher octane fuels, unfortunately. I'm paying about $3.00 U.S. per gallon for that. The price I pay for a little get up and go. I have to go turbo so that I can use the lower octanes. It's still money I don't have at the moment... OH!

I am paying $2.49 but I get about 10 miles to the gallon. This is regular BTW. 89 octane, but my neighbor has to run 93 octane in his G35. Thats like another quarter more per gallon. That sucks. And a turbo would be sick on the Rav4. What octane you using? 89, 91, or 93?

Hah, I don't use anything less than 93 in my Turbo cars. I'm paying just over 3.00/gallon now for my premium, with my VR4 getting between 15 and 20 mpg. It's a good thing I don't have to drive very often!
