on sturday i was leaving work to go home and started my 01 honda civic ex, the car started but died about 5 seconds later. the car kept doing it. i tried scanning the codes with a genesis but couldnt fond communication with it so i went threw a lot of possibles but nothing successful, i unplugged my crank sensor and the car started and ran. so i got a new sensor, but when i went to install it i saw a 6-8 inch spot in my timing belt that had no teeth. so i replaced the timing belt and water pump, car would not start, i disconnected the crank sensor and car starts and runs great but surges and 3500rpm and can not get on it with out it cutting power. i got another crank sensor and the cam sensor but car will not start unless crank sensor is disconnected still, any ideas????? im hoping its not the ecm

huh, all that is in my puny mind is, the intake sensor thing... MAP/MAF sensor?

have you checked if the timing is correct, since you said it had teeth missing the timing may have gone wrong?

that's all i can think...(NOTE: that i know nothing)

yeah i did timing 4 times to make sure its right on and it runs great idles great, just pretty much redlines at 3500 rpms. im thinking its my ecm because my alternater bolt vibrated out and my alt was loose, may have caused a voltage spike and damaged ecm. swaped out the map sensor and still having same problem.........
