I'm new to the forums, and I guess you could say new to the world of racing, and don't really know much about the parts of cars, but I do know the major differences between most cars(The popular ones at least) and I was wondering what you guys would think would be a good first car? I plan on getting one soon, as soon as I learn stick, and get my license(I'm 20, and lots of *** happened in the past to prevent me getting my license sooner) In any case. The cars I like are the STis, Lancer Evos, RX-7s, G8s(I just love how they look), jetta's(The older models that allow turbos, or was I mislead and all of them can have them?) Bascially, I want something thats affordable, but looks good. I'unno. I just pretty much want a list of cars I can look through and pick one, so I can stop being all like "DHfiahkljafhklajfh WHAT *** car?!"

well do you have about 30k lying around cause stis and evos arent cheap, rx7s and g8s will be cheaper but not much. you can turbo anything you want, you can even turbo like a moped if u felt like it. its just a matter of piecing it together. if u dont have that much i'd say eg civic(base and swap in a motor), older supra, or a 240. if u live in canada, go skyline

Hah. I wish I lived in Canada. And well, I have this wicked sweet job lined up where I can make up to 220k, so basically money isn't really an extensive issue(if i get the job that is) and this would be my first tuner/stick car, so yeah. At any rate. I know that STi's, and Evos are expensive, but my main question is are they worth the cash? And hell, if I do get this job, I might even shell out for a ZR1. But, tuners are more customizable and you can get them to look and I guess you could say 'act' the way you want. and I'd probably would pick up a civic, just because they're cheap, and a good car to beat on. After I get some experience with stick-shifts, I was thinking about picking up a RX8 or a Scion TC. I don't know, theres just SO many freaking options out there.

Hmm. Yeah, I would totally do that, if I could find one around here. And the AWD would be awesome for winter driving too.

kk buy your self a cheap civic with standard trans. learn to drive stick, just kill the clutch on it lol, do some research on the cars your interseted in then narrow down your options. from what i can tell you....RX7/8 rotary engine- like to be cold burns oil like crazy, can be bult to beast status. EVO/STI- in my opinion are the same car(others will tell you different) both AWD can be bult to beast status. G8's...no dont buy (pontiac isnt all there.no really there gone). and just because Honda S2000 (my car) super sexy, gets all the looks, Vtech <---need i say more lol

Personally speaking, I detest any and all GTIs I think they're ugly as sin. However, I do like jetta's, and they're easy to maintain. I'll probably look around for a Civic, or a Jetta to beat the hell out of them, then go for my car of choice. I'm deciding between, RX-7/8, Integra Type-S,(RSX i guess you could say?) Supra maybe a 2000+ GT-S celica, and a STi. I was also considering, if I couldn't find any of those around where I live, I might pick up a SRT-4.

Eww... Roided neon(yea opinonated thing to say but you wolnt sway me)i like what you originaly said! go for the G8. or not, you wolnt get a warranty sincce pontiac is headed down the toilet. Thats what id go for if i had the cash. If your job is something officey, it would match your job and youd look a lot more profesional hopin out a G8 than a fully tuned import, no matter how sweet we know they realy are.
