Dodge Neon SRT-4. Is it really the best/fastest car you can get for under 20 grand?

I've read up on this car a lot in the last 24 hours or so, and all I've read is how great they are, and that they're the fastest car you can get for under twenty grand. My friend has one, and I've been in the car with him while he drove it, but never when he 'raced' it. I personally don't buy into online hype, and how people are so headstrong about certain cars being the best, etc. Probably because I have it instilled in my head that there will ALWAYS be a faster car than the one you're driving, no matter what you do to the engine. Anyway. I was wondering if there were any other cars that are better than the SRT-4 for the same price range? (They're about 7 ~ 15 grand around where I live) 'Cuase if thats the case I might pick one of them up, but then again I don't really wanna hear my friend go on about how he started the SRT-4 movement and all that cocky bull crap.

Im not going to praise the roided up neon. But if thats all they cost. Your getting a pretty good deal. Make sure you get a turbo. But dont mess with the boost gauge unless youve done some serious modifying. Theres a guy i graduated with. he turned it up just a little bit. Blew the seal on his head gasket and spun a bearing. only a month after his mom bought it. now h wrecked it too. but that was his stupidity.

Cars you can get for under 20 grand: Just about anything.
The S2000, 350Z, and even a few NSX's and GT-R's can be found for under 20 if that's your limit.
SRT's aren't a bad choice, but you have many other options at that price range.

If you enjoy the sounds of tennis balls in the exhaust, mopars legandary quality and service (sarcastic)... But for 20k you can get something else. Used Vs Used there are a number of better finds.

Goal 450-500RWP in my less then 2400lb car
