Well I'm thinking either a Nissan Maxima or Sentra 03. This is my first "project" so I need a little help. I was thinking of going for the exterior first such as rims, paintjob maybe, body kit, then go under the hood, and finally interior seats, sound system, etc.
What parts should I buy, and in what order should I purchase them (if any)?
Also is there any major difficulties with installing any of the parts?

well some are simple bolt ons, others are complex. i'd say get rims and suspension then motor. you probably want to try to avoid the ricer look

go look up s12rapido3's posts, he's posted on mostly anything you could think of. rims and tires are extremely easy, suspension you should probably get done at a shop. a cold air intake or short ram intake would be extremely easy to do as well

Or does somone know a guide I could use to do it myself? I'd rather not have a mechanic do it.

Man go for the engine first. From my experiences with racing the sleeper look is awlays better. And if its a project do everything urself. The best racer/customizer knows his car in and out. Start off slow with maybe an intake, maybe a turbo. Dont put more into ur car than u can handle.

Tell me what you guys think.
1. Bolt Ons 2. Cold Air Intake 3. Rims 4. Seat covers (not a big fan of the stock interior) 5. Muffler 6. Subs
That would be my first purchase. My budget isn't too tight, but I still want to stay on the safe side. My next purchase will probably be small something like this:
1. Suspension or Motor 2. Body Kit
My last would all be whatever I didn't buy either the suspension or the motor.
What do you guys think? I went with the stuff thats easier to install first. Then I'll get some local help on suspension, and if that doesn't work out I'll obviously have to get it professionally installed. How hard is it to install a motor? Somewhat simple you'd think, but I want to be sure.

That sounds like a good plan and from what I understand with the motor that depends on how familliar you are with all of it. But I really dont know on that one. How much hp approx do you get from cold air intake and adding mufflers? A noticable amount or no? P.S. the cold air intake, rims, seat cover, and subs is all very easy to do yourself. The muffler, I am not sure of. You may need a proffesional to help you with that one, I am not sure. Depends on if you add a whole new pipe system or not too I think. Someone correct me if I am wrong though because I am a noob :P lol.

the muffler is easy enough to do youself if you have access to a hoist. a cai usually is about 8hp and a muffler alone, maybe 1hp. its better to get a full exhaust(header back) with high flow cat. then you'll get closer to 10hp

more important than the MONEY is the EXPERIENCE u have under ur belt. Any chump can spend 10g's to make a car go quick but if he doesn't know how to drive the car/cars in general if he lines up with a true racer he is gonna lose

Well I'm not concerned about that. I know how to drive, and it's not the money I'm worried about it's being able to install the parts that I'm worried about. Like I said I'd like to able to put everything on myself.
