I've been visiting codejdm.net and giving my witty two cents worth to our European tuner brother there. But, I noticed on one of their threads that a import sport car had chrome rims. I think it was a Honda Prelude all done up, or some thing. The car was actually really, and I mean REALLY, nicley built. Except for the CHROME wheels. I don't like chrome for sports cars. Caddies, Buicks and SUVs, yes... sports oriented cars, no.
To help you understand my disgust over this "CHROME DILEMMA", picture this, if you may... A 1991 or maybe a 92, Lincoln Town Car, tinted windows all the way around, including the front and rear light lenses, chrome fender flares, chrome window sills, grill, 20inch 6 or 7 spoke sport wheels, all chrome mind you, and get this... A CHROME F1 SERIES WING! People, A CHROME F1 SERIES WING! How do I say what I want with out offending any one in particular... I t  w a s  t h e  GHETTOEST looking hunk of junk that I ever layed eyes on. It had country, tuner and race inspired looks all rolled up into one. I've seen bad taste before, but this one took the literal cake for poor taste. It just as bad as putting a muffler and a cold air intake and calling your car  "fast". I saw that, too, in the same city I saw this eye sore on wheels. The guy who owned it, last I saw the eye sore was in 2003, drove it around likeit was art on wheels. GHETTO *cough*! Man! Any way, I just had to share that. it bothered me to know that Chrome could be abused that way on a sport car. Chrome is heavy, notoriously retains heat, and is impracticle for racing. Why? I will never know...

I feel your pain. Chrome has its place, but not on every thing you could possibly put it on. any kind of enhanced wheel upgrade is good no matter the color., be it gunmetal or polished aluminum. As long as it's not chrome, I'm all right. The only vehicles that should have chrome on them are old Caddies, classics and certain parts of SUVs. Hummers have a good amount of chrome on their vehicles. My brother has a Hummer and it is a monster of a vehicle. It's actually cool, but I couldn't afford to gas that thing up every 5 days.

Chrome is bad ass on the right rim.  For example Work, SSR, VOLK. Not the whole wheel, but the lips

I hope it's not all chrome... Some things would be all right, but not every thing. Wait! OutToWin...? This is the dude with the LS1 stuffed into a S13. This guy is like my hero for that. The ride is sweet. I know I remember him. Find his thread with the pics and you'll see what I mean. The car he's shown doesn't have a ton of chrome on it at all. I now know what he means with his last post on this thread. He has a point with the lips of wheels only getting a touch of chrome or a polish. That's tight. You gotta see his car, though!

Hi, it was a civic with chrome rims on that site and yes it looks ghetto. I cant imagine how a chrome wing looks on a car. Tell you the truth? I don't like chrome on imports, but it looks great on old US cars. As you said the lincoln here in Germany a guy imported one. The Lincoln was in very very bad condition and this guy did all the work for over two years I think and now it looks so great with its chrome grill and all that stuff. Chrome fits perfectly on those big US cars. You guys have no idea how rare real US cars are here and all the people get crazy when they see them on streets (me included). It has something like nostalgy

Thanks for that info, bud. I wasn't sure what type of import it was. I was on your site and made mention of that as well. Your site rocks, by the way. The older U.S. cars do look great with chrome. It's all the newer stuff that people get crazy with and tend to over do. Then there are the others that don't have a clue on style and fix up their cars with things that don't match the style the car has. A luxury car is not meant to have a racing wing that is also chromed out. LOL!
