Is this a serious post...lol? If so and you put in a new engine is it built? If not then just take it to a shop and have it built and maybe throw on a Procharger!!

new car? not trying to be rude but as a huge camaro fan. those were the slowest, ugliest camaros built. id recomend if you wanna have a camaro buy somethings from the 80's or save up and buy a first gen. they are way faster and cheaper to build up. if you wanna keep your 01, you should swap the motor, the v6 doesn't have much potential.

Yea i understand, I could always put some new things on to make it look good. Its just a hard choice right now to decide what exactly to do with it. Sell or keep is the question for me right now...if i was to sell, what do you think personally is a good car if im looking for speed in general?

You could do some stuff with the Camaro, like find a late Trans Am engine and drive train, swap it in built and call it a day. As far as finding some thing for speed in general? If you want to stay with late American, there's the GTO, Mustang GT500 ($$$$, and lots of it). I'm sure ther are more American cars that are made for speed, I just can't think of any right now. It's up to you, though. I would just keep it stock and pour what you would spend on building a domestic into an import. You do what you like. Just plan out what it is you're looking for in a car before you do any thing. 2000Hcsi is right, those early 80s Camaro were tight. There was some thing really cool about them. LOL!

Ahh thanks for ur ideas, but im not necassarilly looking for American, but do you think if i put in a new exhaust and intake, and just some other performance upgrades that it would help alot to increase Hp, and just like i said speed in general?

well personally i'd say go with an old camaro, newish mustang or cobalt if you want domestic. ive seen all of them really fast. ive also seen both look pretty good(the cobalt had a full body kit). your camaro has potential for some high numbers, i know a guy with over 400hp outta his, but they aren't all that fast in the end, he beat me by about 2 lengths in a quarter mile and my car is basically stock. before he bought it my bros friend was looking at it and they ran it in a quarter mile and my bros friends 92 v6 camaro killed it. it is up to you though. whatever you buy though your camaro is probably gonna be nicer inside so if its a daily driver you might wanna get a second car and keep yours

well to be honest im in high school and im really into cars and this camaro happens to be my first car, ive put new headlights, and tailights and like i mentioned a new rebuilt engine. im definetly not ganna be buying a new car anytime soon especially with money these days, but i think if i hear from a few people that it may have some potential for some decent speed ill go for it...earlier i was all about looks and stuff but now im more interested in boosting the car a little bit under the hood.

Yeah, but it would only be good for about a 5 to 10 horse power gain. It's not bad, but it's not the end all be all. You know? The only way to gain any real horses is to do some cams, valves, port matching, etc., etc. It will take some time and money to get some thing viable out of tuning a V6 Camaro. I can see a turbo in it, but it will require you to really build the engine to handle it. The rest of the drive train will need to be up graded as well. Then the suspension and the brakes have to be attended to. You can't go fast with out being able to stop efficiently. Cool? PLan on spending some heavy cash if you still plan on staying with the V6.

even a v8 isn't gonna give you enough power to be FAST but it will be respectable... youre looking at about a high 13 second car with a lightly upgraded v8 swap...

The Trans Am Came in a V6 plat form as well and V8. I'm not talking about the every day run of the mill V8. I'm talking about the MONSTER V8 that was in the Trans Am that only had a short stint on the market. You needed a waiver to actually buy one. It was like 600 horses or some thing. If you can find an engine off of one of those on line, it would get you started on some thing crazy. It's a lot of money and there may be some PCM issues between Pontiac and Chevy electronics, but I don't see a down side of some thing like that. Again, think about what it is you really want to spend, being in high school and all, and see what's more viable for you. I would stick with any 4 banger, for now, untill you can afford an upgrade of such a magnitude.

go to your public library and check out a book called "maximum boost" it's very helpful.
i say turbo it, get better design exhaust system...but then again i'll ask the normal question:
what's your power goal?(250hp,300hp,350hp,400hp+
what's your preferred platform(rwd,fwd,awd)?
whats your favorite manufacturer?(Toyota,for, Chevrolet,Honda,Nissan,etc)?
what's you power type preference(n/a tuning, turbo, supercharger, nitrous)?
what's it gonna be used for(time attack, drag, drift, etc)?
and go for all out balance, i wouldn't want your ride to lose control for having too much hp and not enough handling/grip.
