Upgrading a Lexus SC300

Hey everyone. I've owned my 2000 Lexus SC300 Pearl for a year now, and am just wanting to fix it up for street performance. Problem is, I don't know much about anything when it comes to my car performance-wise. I can upgrade the exterior all I want, sicne I know everything about the inside, but barely nothin' on the inside. Money is kind of an issue too. Im 18, and pretty much make very little cash, so I need stuff that's semi-cheap, but wholly effective. I'm talkin' about engine parts, ECU's, everything. I just want my car to be street perfect since Im pleased with all my work on the outside but not the inside. Oh, and the last bit is the fact that is it has to pass with my parents sicne Im stuck for another year with them. So nothing that's absolutely outrageous, since I do all my running and gunning at night. *Wink wink* All possible help would be great, thanks.

It sounds as if you want a lot with very little. Just keep in mind that you get what you pay for. Nothing in the engine bay or electronics is going to be cheap or plug and play, unfortunately. Well, almost nothing. LOL! Keep saving and get involved with a performance shop that will honestly guide you in the right direction with your SC300. It's a little Supra with a Lexus badge. Any thing is possible with that V6, bud. You just have to have the patience and money to do it right. Haste makes waste. And, for Gods' sake, stay away from street racing. Check out YouTube and all the stuff that may, and will, happen in due time to illegal street racers. I say it only because I care and because it will save your parents the headache of having to bail you out of trouble. Or worse, identify your body at the morgue. Find a track some where and do it legally. Cool? Yur ride will love you for it and your parent may stand behind you on the sport. Besides, it's safer on a track.

Hah, works for me. Here's the thing though, I don't just wanna walk into a performance shop and get taken. Since I don't know everything about everything yet, I need to know what I'm looking for first in my car. And I know I sound like a broken record, but performance should line up with the cost or vary lightly. So I won't blow my entire savings and such, but I won't skimp either.

Sounds fair. Just be picky about the products and do research on it's performance and stuff. There are a lot of shops that do good work and are not out to get you. You can ask friends that may have used them or ask some of the shops customers about their reputation, and such. I know it's scary to think of those shops doing that, but you have to start some where. We can help you a long as much as we can as well. No worries. This is a big family of people that want what's best for the tuning world. Cool?
