I just bought an 03 mitsubishi lancer evolution, and am starting to make a list of some parts i would like to buy and apply to it. I am trying to find a good turbo upgrade for it and i was wondering if anyone could remember what issue of super street it was that ran an article about an evo turbo upgrade. I spent all mornring looking through my past issues but i jsut cant seem to find it. Im hoping i havent lost it but any help would be appreciated. As well as any suggestions on what to get since im kind of new to the whole tuner thing. I'm only willing to spend 5000 at max on this upgrade, so nothing really to over the top. thankyou

I know GReddy makes systems for it, too. You will need to shop around. So far, every thing made for the EVO is top notch. There may be some that are better than others but top notch either way.

Time to change your name to Evo Kid or somethin like it. If cars were like ice cream, a 240sx would be the classic but always good chocolate, and an evo would be the triple fudge, chocolate-covered, rocky road, marshmellow-infused, awesome ice cream with not one, but two cherries on top. Of course, put a better intake and exhaust on, then give that evo a blow job with a better turbo or put better cams in it. Im new to the tuner scene, so im still learning. but arent we all? and no, i dont know what turbo your talking about, nor do i feel like flipping through my SS mags again trying to find the one your looking for

I know, i know, im one sexy dude!

yeah the name is like 5 years old and i just didnt feel like takeing the time to change it :-P, i have looked into both the turbos from HKS and Greddy. They are both nice, the greddy being cheaper becasue its a single and the HKS is a twin turbo setup so naturally its a little bit more expensive, by about 1000 dollars to be exact. Im not sure if the twin turbo setup from HKS will need fabrication in the engine bay to fit. I glanced over the webpage and didn't read anything about it, but i do have to buy an intercooler, intake, and an SSQV kit from HKS for it to work, so all together thats about 8000+ dollars. I was hoping to put an arc intercooler inder the hood for the look, but getting the HKS throws that out. Overall im leaning towards the HKS GT2835, if you know wether or not the turbo will need fabrication plz be sure to post, or if your running this on your evo what you like/dislike about it. Also whats your opinion on twin turbo setups, better/worse than a larger single turbo like the greddy T67?

back again...just wanted to say that the GT850R turbo kit from AMS is really BA and for a little over 4700 so more towards my budget...my head is starting to hurt from all the choices.

The head on your engine will hurt too if you're not careful about beefing it up, along with what ever else you have to do. Turbos are great not so cheap hp getters but never forget to change a few things in the engine so that when you install the turbo you're not left stranded by the side of the road due to parts failures. That would be a total F.U.B.A.R. for your engine. It means, "F'd up beyond all recognition"! Good luck.

O i almost forgot i was running some numbers and i found that if i get the HKS kit it will cost me 8,350 with the component parts i ahve to buy from them to fit the kit, but if i buy the setup from AMS, buy an intercooler from them i can still get the ARC super intake induction box and only pay 6838.90...so a savings of 1511.10 of which all and more with most likely be going towards internals, rods, pistons, ect...:-D YAY another headache

LOL! Take your time with it. Once it's up and running it will all be worth it. Some times we all have to have at least one or two headaches to get what we want. Can't wait to see it once you're done.
