I Am Stuck!!! I have This Could Be Awesome Car ther 97 Infiniti J30! It NEEDS A Few Things To Be In Good Condition But I Cant Find Them For The Life Of Me And I'll Be Damned If I Am Going To Pay For Infiniti to FIX the problems! I Can do it myself but i cant find anything for this car!

1. my exhaust has many leaks!
2. all of my shocks/struts are dead!
3. i need new lock actuators for all 4 doors
4. i want performance stuff!

i know that it has the 300zx engine, the vg30de.
now i know i can get the engine stuff upto the headers for it but then i am stuck with what type of suspension i need cause i know almost nothing about suspension. and i need an exhaust system. probably new cats too cause i used to live in illinois and the vehicle was never taken care of properly it was owned by my now wife but she doesnt know much about cars and well yeah. it was left outside during snow storms and the cats heat sheilds rusted off.

so any help is awesome any shops i need to call would be more than awesome.

i was thinking that maybe if i got ahold of a nissan cedric exhaust it would fit considering its the same platform y32 and it had a vg30de from 91 - 95. but i know that the 300zx exhaust would be way too short! and i dont want to make it myself cause well i dont know how... i could figure it out but i dont want to i would much prefer to find a rare part for my j30!

You want miracles? Go to church! Just kidding! You do have a problem, though. Most of those things might have to get purchased at the dealer or through aftermarket direct fit OEM replacements. There wasn't much in the way of tuning stuff for that model. It's a shame. #4 on your list of things to do will require you to go custom, unless you find a place that will alter your ride to your specs. Your handicap is that you can't do most of what needs to be done to get there. It's what people in the buisness call "out sourcing". What you can't do will have to be done by some one that can. That model is difficult, but not impossible, to tune. It is a Nissan at heart. You're in for a tuners ride with the build, assuming you're going that route. Sorry if I was vague, but there isn't much for that car in the way of exterior stuff. The engine, on the other hand, is another story! Beef that sucker up and keep it a sleeper visually, since exterior mods will be near impossible to do unless you get creative.

its not that i dont like the body of the car i think its pretty cool, its deffinitely a different look which is why i want to do stuff to it! i think it would be a nice VIP style car! i think i will end up having to get custom stuff. i have a guy near me that will do a new set of struts for like 200 a peice so that might be the cheapest way for me though i will be trying to figure out if they have a set of coilovers or something that will fit instead! for the exhaust that same guy said he would custom build me an exhaust for 350 bucks im sure if i get him some performance mufflers he would use them instead of what he has. well anyways thanks for your help...

It's got a nice looking front clip, sorta like a mid 90s Maxima. The rear end is another story. It sorta' looks like some one fell a sleep durring the drawing of it and the pencil drifted a little short of... well... nothing. It reminds me of an old Jaguar rear end where the tail lights could almost touch each other by a 12" ruler. I guess they thought that it would make it more aerodynamic or some thing. Weird, but nice, like a Bull dog, but at the end of the car. You would have to do a search to see what I mean.
You could use the rear end as a ramp, of sorts. It's not entirely ugly by any means but it could have had a better designed rear end.

It's a Nissan. What, besides the rear end, could you hate about it? LOL!

Dude, like 5 months ago i owned a 2001 infiniti G20 and i accidently found both the fountain of youth and the holy grail while looking for parts for it. but in your situation, exhaust leaks? find an exhaust shop to fix that. better yet, put an aftermarket exhaust on it if you already havent. dead shocks? not sure, but it might have the same platform mine did, which i might be retarded, but i was informed it has the R32 skyline and 300zx platform, which might mean it fits the same shocks/struts. (im sort of a noobie to the tuner scene, by the way) door lock actuators? i have no clue, playboy. performance stuff? heres the fun part! Living here in memphis, everybody is broke and exhaust shops are for the down low, i know a dude who will do almost anything with an exhaust for under 40 bucks! (he does pretty good too, no leakage). anyway, ive been like no help so good luck on your infiniti, playboy

I know, i know, im one sexy dude!

Naw, the G20 is on the same platform as the Sentra, to some extent. The J30 is on the same platform as the Maxima. Again, to some extent. They made a few visual changes and hardware was a little different as well. The engines and drive trains were the same as on the Nissans, though. Beyond that, you couldn't swap out certain thing from one onto a Nissan. Doesn't mean that any one couldn't try, though.
