Lately the two, your ride and the economy, don't seem to see eye to eye. Both candidates are quarreling about whose policy helps the people of the United States the most. I've seen, heard, read and studied the comments and so called facts that both Obama and McCain seem to think will correct our monetary woes. Neither one of their plans helps us at all, when you study their facts as they perceive it. They both seem to forget who pays for their salaries. Our taxes do. OUR HARD EARNED money that has been misused for the past 15 to 25 years. Their calous disregard for what is best for this country has led it to be seen as the drug addict of the world community. That's just an analogy of what the U.S. Has become. No one respects the United States and now with our economy affecting others in the world... You get the picture. The solution? Implement The FAIR TAX PROPOSITION! They, the government, won't do it because it would be the single most greatest redirection of power to the people from government that this great country of ours would see in its entire history in exsistence. Huckabee ( I think I spelled his name right) has been for the FAIR TAX for a long time. It would mean all of your money from your pay check would be in your pocket with out having to get taxes taken out. That would make us spend money and it would stimulate the economy in a way that government can't explain. With extra money, people spend, period. How do we pay taxes then? Through the products that we purchase on the daily. Essentials like milk, eggs, fruit and vegetables would still be exsempt from taxes, but every thing else would not be. Government would get their money right off the top and we would have the extra money to do the things we want... with our money. The Fair Tax proposition is not perfect, albeit, but it's better than what the government has been doing to us American Citizens for over 30+ years. It's time that we get proactive and fight for what's ours and keep government working for us! As they should be! This Fair tax solutuion does this in spades. Wouldn't you want the extra money to get what you want for your car knowing that you are actually making what you worked for in hours? www.fairtax.org, visit it and sign the petition, of course, ypu would have to read it first before you jump in. I know there might be questions that you have. It's long, so, take your time. The site answers every thing you have doubts about. Consider what the future would be like with our entire pay check at hand week to week. Oh, the possibilities!

That would mean those car parts would be heavily taxed, like 40 cents a dollar, to make up for everything else not getting taxed

Every thing is taxed at the company before it would hit the shelves. All we pay for is the product, albeit, more expensive but if we are getting all of our pay check, who cares. At the end of the year the incentive would be a check from the government for all the things that we purchased. Sorta like the income tax return but with out all the paper work. They would keep track by paper trail and or yearly expense, I would assume. Again, it's not perfect but it's way better than the system that's been making our heads turn for the past two to three decades. Government isn't about us, my friend. It's self evident with all that is happening now. Niether encumbant is on the right track for what is good for us. The answers are there but they refuse to acknowledge that there is a better way than the current system. They would lose all financial power over us. The Government would still function with the Fair Tax in place. They would only see from the fair tax system what would help them make America and its CITIZENS better off in the end. It would most likely cap their salaries and make them earn a living helping America instead of the way it's been run so far. At one time all the illegal imigrants came to America because it was THE place to come and make a living. Now they want to migrate North to Canada because the American economy is so weak. That brings me to another point of the Fair Tax. Illegal imigrant would be putting into the system, too, with all the products they purchase. There wouldn't be a broken Government or a bad economy if this was implemented. It needs to be fine tuned, like I've said, but the alternative is worse. We, our children and our Grand children could all be paying back the Government, in spades for the bad judgement that they seem to think helps America be strong, under the current system. I don't want my kids, or any body elses kids, to have to be burdened by some thing like this fiasco of a Governments lack of concern for us. I don't know about you, but I like money as much as you and any body, but if things continue to go sour due to governmental idiots creating headaches for us, I don't know how long it would be before you and I would have to sell our selves to make ends meet. I wouldn't do it and I know you wouldn't either, I'm just saying. It's strong to say that but it happens. History is a good example of those hard descisions made by people in the past. What better alternative than every hard earned dollar in our pockets?

I try to avoid political discussions just because I have not so much idea about this but this fair tax proposition youre talking about sounds good for me. Do you guys really have this? If we really think about it this will help a weak economy getting stable again. But there are of course other parts who are in need of the taxes which are put on the money you earn and not covered by any products you buy as a citizen. How would those taxes be covered or from where would they be paid? The more interesting question for me is that you told above that both presidential canidates have no really solution for the current econimical situtiation. Is that true? To us outside the USA was given the impression that the candidate Obama had some better answers on the current situation. Is that not true? Maybe this idea with the fair tax prop you are talking about could be optmized but is this really active for you? If not why?

Not sell my body? dude, if i could be a pornstar, id quit my job immediately! and also heres something i noticed, the rest of the world pays attention to america a looooooot more than we pay attention to the rest of the world. whos the leader of germany? australia? france? dont ask me! i wouldnt be surprised if you dont know either. let alone whos running for leaders of those countries! i dont trust our government. its slowly becoming more socialist. if you put a frog in water, and slowly heat it up, it will boil alive and not even realize it. thats whats happening to us. were turning into a socialist country and not really noticing. i might have to move to russia to get my freedom back someday. in reality, if our country falls apart and sucks, id move to australia. america is great, but maybe not for much longer dude. too many people just care about themselves nowadays.

you are maybe right mtwonstreetracer, but as it seems economy is not a local problem, so it doesn't affect only the usa but all of us as long as we live together on this world (I still try to get a place on mars ). so we all sit in the same boat. Not only your economy is down these days but the world economy is ill. In fact it's 11.55 so all governments have to work together these days and hopefully find a solution.

What affects the U.S. affects the rest of the world. Even if our dollar is not as strong as the Euro, at last look it was stronger, when the economy takes a hit the rest of the world takes it with us. The Fair Trade Organization and our trading policies with China, Mexico, Canada, India, to name a few, is taking its toll on America. In a lot of situations it's one way and American buisnesses take a hit. Those countries that trade with us too have problems as well due to corruption in the system. That's why so many have left the States. It's cheaper out side of the U.S. The United states government and their poor decisions have almost ruined this country. When Bush ran for second term, there were people all over warning about where this country was heading if he were elected again. What happened? He got elected again. All because of the Muslim Radical threat. Fast forward a few years and look how we are! Now we have two more encumbants that want to fix things and it is now going to cost the tax payers of America 700BILLION DOLLARS. THAT'S 700,000,000,000,000! 300billion of which will go to buy up toxic mortgages, according to McCain. He claimed it was his idea. Not true. He refined it some, but it was not his idea. It still doesn't touch the fact that it is coming out of the tax payers pockets. All that is on top of the 20 to 30 billion dollars that we're in the hole for being in Iraq. WOW! And to think that we still haven't captured Bin Laden... The Fair Tax Proposition is not in effect, yet. It, too, needs refinement, but it will eliminate government screw ups, to an extent. I say that because there is always some that will find a loop hole. Hey Mtown, I will fight against this country becoming socialist. That's why we have a voice as citizens. Scream at our government for a solution that works for its people and the country. We are the only country in the world, besides our allies and you all know who you are, that have a chance to change the status quoe. We VOTE. Make a statement by voting about any thing that matters in your home town. I recently voted on a referendum on a school expansion that will transplant 400 extra children to an already crowded little school. The problem that plagues the referendum is that there won't be any more teachers hired for the extra children that will attend. It passed, but, I voted to make my self known. I'm proactive. How about you? Change starts with the people, not government.

You are right, but nowadays the "people" can only do so much. start a revolt? they call the police out, and as soon as the police cant handle it, the government sends the military out to stop them. the people who find out about government conspiracies usually dissapear, and the government, i dont think, is not always truly elected by the people. the government is its own entity, who usually helps itself and does just enough to keep us "peasents" from retaliating. we get to choose between a socialist and bush's sidekick. man, im sure glad i turned 18 and get to vote. why dont i go ask a mother which of her kids she wants to die while im at it?

That is as real as it gets, dude. But it sounds as if you've given up with out trying to make some difference for your community. I respect what you say and in no way do I want you to start a revolt. That's way too risky, considering the way the Law and the government handles those situations. Writing to your legislature, voting and educating people of their rights as citizens and what they can do to better themselves and their neighbor hoods is all that you need to do. Keep in touch with what goes on around you so that you can make a difference when the time come for you to act. It's our land, brother. We can change things if we want. The problem, as of late, is that we depend too much on government for every thing. I know what i have to do and I'm doing it by this thread. You are my fellow countryman and what affects you bothers me as if you were my own family. I can't stay quiet about this any more. I cry knowing that our government is all about self and has left us out to dry. Actually, it pisses me off! I want for every one what I would want for me. Piece of mind, safety and a steady good paying job! If it means yelling about it, then, so be it. Some one will listen, eventually.

better idea, move to Canada. but seriously youre going to find problems with the government anywhere you go in the world and not being critical but S12rapido3 is definately right, as always it seems, people are turning into obedient little sheeps who follow the leader and dont ask questions and just rely on the government

Thank you for that, 2000-Honda-civic-si. I'm not trying to be the leader of some grass roots group or any thing. It's just that seeing how things are going and the government just keeps on truckin at our expense, drives me crazy. I know that I'm not the only one seeing the circus act at Washington. I'm surprised that more people aren't out raged by all the money being spent at their expense. Heck, my children and every one elses children are going to pay for all of this administrations bad judgement calls and government screw ups. I feel bad for all our kids. We can do some thing about it or stay closed up and let the inept government try to fix things and make a profit with our money, as they always do. That is how things operate in Washington. We pay, pay, pay and they rake in the profits of our labor so that they can pass unregulated Wall Street bail outs in the sum of 700 billion dollars. Can any one say "trickle down effect"? That concept leaves us "JOE SIX PACKS", as Palin would put it, with very little. The way it's been for a long time, as always. Scream to your representatives as to how unfair that is. Demand fair usage of your money. Threaten them with a no vote for them on their next election. We CAN make a difference, we just have to be more pissed off about things that matter and affect us as a nation. As you can see, I'm passionate about my fellow Americans. I love this country as well as every American that makes it strong. Sorta' like how I like all cars. LOL! I won't stand by and let some greedy, self advantagious freaks mess up our country! I will speak up as I have been. For every ones' sake! I don't see a Republican or a Democrat. I see an American, period!

if you read it and then think about it and then compare it. its like america well i guess is like the book Lord Of The Flies. cause like theres many people in the government or any government that want to take over and just have it there way and deal with things that dont really matter. i say its like lord of the flies because in the book from what i remember is that this one kid only cares about hunting for pegs when they got all the food they need and the other boy cares about getting recued.(this thread has inspired me to go and by a punk cd LOL)

I think all of you are right. If you think about it no matter which country you live, you always will be disappointed with the decissions of your government. Same all over the world. The good and also bad think is that the only possibility for citizens is to vote. Good think because you can influence with your vote the government, bad think because who guarantees that your voted government will do what they promised? And yes, the compare with "Lord of the flies" is really good. (btw great movie)

Great movie, indeed! I understand what you mean, though. I'm passionate about this, as you can see. I hate people getting the butt end of things. We do have a real chance of changing things in government but there are way too many that just sit back and vote for their party instead of whats right and way too many more just sit back and become like logs in their attitude about what they can actually do. We have representatives that get re-elected to represent us in Washington and some do nothing to sway politics for the people. I say that if they want to get re-elected to their positions, they have to do what "WE" the "PEOPLE" are saying. Enough is enough! I write to my representative all the time about the way it should be. I'm going on again like a novelist, sorry. I'm a fighter at heart. I don't think I'll ever stop pushing the representatives to do right by America and its people. I'm one "loud mouth" in a sea of many that are becoming sedintary in their way of seeing the government. I don't like to sound like my way is the only way but we as a nation should demand more from our government. We live, work, raise a our families and die here. I don't think it's too much to ask for from our governments. They take, take, take and we get sqwat! We do get some stuff but it comes in the form of every thing getting taxed.
