If you have a 1996 Mitsubishi Eclipse GSX, then there's really no reason to swap the engine. Your engine is a 4G63, the same one as in the Evo. Your best bet is to rebuild your engine. If you really want to swap, swap to the 1g Eclipse 4G63.

I feel as Jimichanga does. If your choices are to install a new one or rebuild, then go with what doesn't hurt your pocket. The GSX engine is a good little engine right out of the box. What would you swap it out for?

Maybe if you had 15 grand left or maybe 20....let's be realistic here. If you want an RB you should have bought a 240SX. Rebuilt the 4G63 the right way and I'm sure you'll enjoy it.....on a side note what's with people wanting to put an RB in everything......i dont know

Its just people thinking they can put brand x motor(in this case RBs) in brand y car thinking that they'll make loads of power and have a unique setup, but they fail to realize how expensive its actually going to cost them, not to mention the extremely long downtime. Plus there's no guarantee that anything will work.

The RB is the quentisential engine of choice for those looking for real gains. The problem is that it's expensive and if it's not going into a Nissan it gets more expensive. I want a RB engine for my car too, but it's going into a Nissan. Even with that it's going to cost me some cash. I won't kill any ones dream of doing what they want. It's their car but 03wrxSLEEPER is right, dude needs to be more realistic with what he wants.

I think what he's trying to say is he can buy the engine on a ebay for only 5k. Which if you do go on ebay then engine is near 5k but i dont think he considered all the work and extra money need to make it work with a non nissan car.

I still wonder why people are diciding to install engines that aren't made for the car they have. Curious... I won't tell him not to do it,mind you, but it makes me wonder why go through all that work.

Wow! That is a curious trend. LOL! I like the way you used the movie title. LOL! Good one! LOL! I seen the movie too and even though it was a odd swap, it still seemed cool, in a weird way. I wouldn't do it, but I wouldn't keep any one from, or rank on any one, for doing it, either. To each his own. I'll help any where I can, too. As always. That's what we're here for, support and the occasional tease. LOL!

hey man im a DSM fanatic and i would have to say junk your 7 bolt POS.. iv had 1 blow up on me when i had my 2g and there worthless unless you got cash to fix the crank walk issue... with that said go onto ebay and look for the EVO 3 motor... its the ONLY evo motor that is exactly like and of the DSMs the other wise the evo motor was always tunred around and had diff. *** the reason i suggest this is 1.. you can pick up the full motor trans wireing harness all of it for around 1500 + shipping... the motor come with your basic begginers mods.. 550s big 16g turbo. the only real difference in the 1g to 2g swap is the CAS. its honestly not that major of a swap and worth every penny... and with the 3K or so youll have left buy a 255 fuel pump boost controller intake safc ect. with that set up you could easly make 250awhp wich may no seem like alot but considering your AWD itll get up and go like hell... PM me if you want any more info.. ill be glad to help out a fellow dsm'er

one other thing i forgot to mention is most of the JDM evo 3 swaps come with the rare cyclone intake manifold JDM ecu and what makes it all worth to me has a base of around 275-286 bhp running off waste gate wich from what i know is 12psi just like anyother 1g 6 bolt motor... compared to your weak ass 210... haha
