Why do people hate cars that aren't their brand?

I've been wondering this and need enlightenment. Why do Honda folk talk down about other car folk and vice verse. Where's the beef? Isn't it all about the tuning of cars, in general? Who cares if it's a Honda or a Mitsubishi or a KIA? Well, I don't know if Kias are tuneable... Never seen one. You all know what I mean, though.

It's the weight differential. lol. I would lose to a car too. Last I checked, I didn't have a licence plate on my rear! lol. Don't be scared to speak your mind, TH! If you can't do that and not get flack from your friends then maybe you should not have such closed minded friends. Any import in the category that you mentioned carries weight in its respective platform. They are all slammin' cars! I'm not being literal about not having friends like that. I have friends that are exactly the same way and they know my likes and dislikes. We get into it as well. lol I'm of the general train of thought about all cars. They are cool and fun to build up, even though some are more high maintenance than others...

its not the car, its the driver. the driver is like "rep-re-zentin" the car, so if you dont like the driver, because he/she disses on something you like or whatever, theyll lose brownie points in your book. car and driver become one.
this could go the opposite too, if someone puts a gay bodykit on their stock POS ford aspire (true story) and you know it looks reeeeally gay, your not going to want to roll with that person anymore based on their poor decisions.
which is why nobody wants to roll with Yams.
daaamn i should work for super street...

Yeah I'm not exactly sure, I'm a Honda owner but lemme tell you I'd pick a Mitsubishi any day, I guess it depends on the person, inexperienced people try to *** on everyone elses car for what reason, i'm not sure, maybe a self-esteem boost

LOL! You guys rock for that. But you're missing the point of my question. Let me clarify... If you own a suped up Si and the other guy has, lets say... a suped up SpecV, couldn't both people give props where props are due? Even better! What if you had a Supra all done up HP, looks and all and the other guy had a 350Z done up the same way, HP, looks and all? What then? They are both status cars. Right? You couldn't admire what it took to get it there and couldn't the other guy do the same?

thats true, its the pride you put into it, i guess maybe they think other people just throw parts in to be 'in the scene'? you would have more respect for your ride than anyone elses. except in japan, but their just good like that.

i disagree(sort of) i can easily apreciate other peoples work they've put into their cars. Put ya people are usually at least semi biased towards their own car.

I agree with the TC. VW guys are the worst. I was kicked out of a parking lot by some idiot in rainbow colored shoes because his VDUB friends were there and me and my friends are tuners 'always squeelin your tires and revin your engines' was his reasoning. Needless to say I smoked them all the way out. I've never met a VDUB driver who didn't hate on me.

RAINBOW SHOES? Can we all say GAY?! That VDub guy with the rainbow shoes really must live the VDub life. I think that VDubs are cool, respectively. It's the people that make the scene. But it's my point exactly. They couldn't appreciate the work that was put into your ride and the GAY A$$ kicked you out! I think that he should have been slammed for the shoes! LOL! I'm an A$$ with A$$E$ and I'm quite verbal with people like that. It's a negative trait that I'm working to abolish. Gotta give the kids a good example! LOL!

Ha! I wish you had seen him, it was classic. I called the place later posing as a customer complaining about the ruckus in their lot. They got kicked out.

That is funny! Mean, but funny! Well, not really mean. They had it coming. Where there is no respect, there is the payback. No one got hurt and that's what's important. People who are like that should open up their eyes and see what's more important. Just because they like their brand of car more than another doesn't mean that theirs is the best. It just means that they like what they like. Who cares about what's best. Just have a good time building what ever car you want and keep the lifestyle going. In the past those types of brand loyal rivalries led to some messed up situations that got people hurt and in the hospital. I wouldn't want to see that trend come back. There is no need for that. UnperfectAccent, you are a funny person. I like that. Keep having fun with it. I still can't get over the rainbow shoes... Who wears that kind of clothes today? LOL!!!
