I just recentley bought a 1991 eclipse GS. the car needed a starter, so I whent down and bought one for it, but when I got back it was the wrong one. After doing some checking with the guy that I bought the car from, I foung out the motor and trans. are from a 1992 hyundai sonata. what the heck?? ![]()

Hey jching, this Mitsu/Hyundai hybrid causes seizures too! LOL!!! I wonder whos idea it was to create that fiasco? I'm still scratching my head on this one! Or maybe we all missed some thing over the years...

U can swap motors from hyundai tiburon/elantra with eclipse(none turbo) but im not sure about the trans. from a sonata, thats a new one on me

I've been looking up on this and, surprisingly, there has been colaborations between the two auto makers... not religiously, of course, but as far as some of the parts are concerned, they do share some technology. Who would have thought? BLECH!!! Mitsubishi has been defiled!!!!! In my oppinion.

yeah i knew that, mitsubishi worked with hyundai to make the new global engine for the genesis too

That's sorta like a let down to my sensibilities... What's next... a Ford/ Mitsubishi mix or a Honda/ Nissan mix or a... you get the picture. Not that it's an entirely bad thing but it does play into some thing a little more deeper than the mixes. How will the brand loyal guys live?
That's my take on that for the brand loyal guys. I'm not teasing in any way but they will have to come to some conclusion as to what is American and Asian, if it comes to that. LOL!
