Universal Pictures will be releasing an action pack movie called Death Race on August 22, 2008. Death Race is about an Ex-con Jensen Ames (Jason Statham) is forced by the warden of a notorious prison to compete in the post-industrial world's most popular sport: a car race in which inmates must brutalize and kill one another on the road to victory.

I think that it's a little of two or three movies in one. Mad Max meets The Running Man, starring Arnold the terminator guy who is now the Governator of California, meets Escape from New York! The plot looks like it can be read ahead, like ram on a computer.  

No, no, no. Mad Max. Come on. Well maybe because of the Armored Car Factor. And yes Maybe the escape from New York Factor. Ex cons. But there's a twist, one I didn't see coming. A point where the movie steps outside of the proverbial box. That's the best way I can say it with out giving it away. Enjoy it; It's Summer, and Tyrese is in it.  

Tyrese, huh? Now I really don't want to see it. Some movies look like they should be kept in the rated "B" section of rental places and this one is one of them. Don't get me wrong I will see it, even though I really don't want to, but I feel like I've been down this visual road before. Jason Stathom is kinda' getting boring as an action hero. He's popping up in too many action packed movies just like that Blood Sport dude. What's his name...? Now look at where he's at now for being over exposed and having the same fighting moves in every movie. A Jet Lee and a Jackie Chan he is not. They at least can do different styles of martial arts to make their characters more interesting. That's what makes a charactrer and a movie more interesting.
Take Jet Lee, for instance... His latest movie is not out of his realm of acting because he's played a villain on a couple of other movies but to play an ancient chinese war lord that returns to reconquer the world...! It's the newest and lates installment in the "Return of the Mummy" series movies! That's cool. This movie is also appocoliptic in nature but considering the actors in it makes that movie that more interesting. How many futuristic, appocoliptic movies with prisoners and cars and a theme pulled out of Escape from New york and tha Running Man can some one see? It's redundant but... Again, I will be seeing it but I can see the plot already. It will be a waste of hard earned money.
I think that SpeedRacer is a some what cooler movie than Death Race and that's saying a lot with out seeing first. I may be premature in my rating this movie but considering the plot... Been there.
