Basically I just wanted to bring this up and ask everyone here what they think about companies like www.carsponsorships.com and www.teamscp1.com Has anyone ever dealt with these companies? Are they legit? And how much do you really save..if anything? Maybe parts are cheaper sometimes, but I see people posting that the savings they take off are from msrp or raised prices. Not sure really, but I would like to hear everyones opinion on this.

DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY!!!!!
2 of my teammates foolishly fell for this crap a while back. It's bull *** you will get full sponsorships on crap you don't want like decalkits.com and you will get so called partial sponsorships, where if you did your research you could find the same parts for cheaper. Do yourself a favor and stay away from them. If you don't believe me just do a search on the internet about them and see what other people have to say.

I don't, but from what other people that I know have encountered, it isn't worth the headaches. It's a double edged sword. It cuts both ways... If some one likes to travel and they have the money to burn it would be worth it for them. Normal people with normal paying jobs have to work a schedule around their jobs... that is if their jobs permit it for that long.

It's definitely a double edged sword..but why go through another company to get sponosored. Which really isn't a sponsorship at all, just discounted parts. Why not go to the individual company itself like Sparco, Falcon, Apexi and ask them for a sponsorship. That seems to me to be much easier. Especially for someone like me who has most of the car complete.

its not really worth going to the company either. If your dead set on it then try for a sposnorship with a rotary based comapny in your case RE Amamiya(excuse the spelling) or JSC speed or even a local tuner shop(which is what will pay off more in the end if you dont do your own work, and considering the 13B is without a doubt a mechanics car id say the availability of a lift and an extended tool box wouldnt be so bad.), Just send them ,and this may sound really overdone but it works, a padded manila colored envelope with professionally developed full size pictures of your car from the drivers side front and passerngers side rear along with engine shots and one or two interior shots. This way the potential sponsor can see your whole car and make a better decision. Also send in a mods list, your contact information, shows/events you have been at and have recieved trophys (and local high school car shows dont count) Im talking serious shows (HIN/FMF) and without a written statement by yourself explaining the history of the car and why it would be beneficial for your proposed sponsor to give you their money/time/business/backing. REMEMBER companies are not out to throw money or time away on cars that just sit there and even cars that draw a small crowd at a show. Hands down the best way to sponsorship stardom is hitting the show/race circuit yreligiously and networking with people there. You never know who you might meet!
For a quick example, a few members of my car club were at a show just hanging out enjoying the show and started BSing about cars to someone who was browsing through checking out their cars, after about a half hour of talking and whatever he introduced himself and asked if anyone had ever heard of funk master flex's television show car wars... well, long story short Infamous Creationz was on television last season building a car and we are now on tour with the funk master flex custom car and bike show. Its not exactly a sponsorship but it pretty fun. but like i said in the other thread about sopnsors, Its costing me over $1000 alone to trailor my car down to Myrtle Beach for the last show of the season.
As far as I am aware the carsponsorships.com/sponsoredwhips.com deals that they promise are close to nothing, I hear that people get ripped off all the time, the companies to look into are often passed over for the thought of a sponsorship position. (monster/amped energy drink for examples)

Your the guy to get this kind of info from, turboz32? God bless you! I guess it helps to be in a car club like you are. I would have never had this much info on this subject if it weren't for this conversation. It really does help me make a concrete descision on this.

Thanks, I think? haha, Ive done my research on sponsorships... They're usually too good to be true, promising free this and free that. After learning everything about them it makes me just want to build the car even more my own way and on my own time. If sponsorship is all anyone is worried about why pick such a competitive scene in the first place? Im sure everyone can agree on at least this much, If you have love for the scene and if you love your car then who cares whose backing you?

I guess it's sorta like sub-prime home loans... You gotta read the super fine print. If you hadn't researched the hidden stuff behind sponsorships, no one would know and get sucked in. There would still be people that do it but not blindly. Don't sell your self short on what an important thing you did here! Again, take the sub-prime lending issue. If every one knew what would have happened before hand, there wouldn't have been a crisis, now, to begin with. Again, REALLY good work and thanks. Some times a little thing goes a big way towards greatness! The more people around that are like you, the better.

I haven't used carsponsorships myself but I've heard mixed results. Some people like it, some don't.
As far as real sponsorships go, they've been worth it in my experience. Over the past two years, I've gotten backing from Magnaflow, AIT Racing, Optima, AFE, Megan Racing, Sun Automobile, and Graphixpressions. It may vary from parts, to labor, to whatever, but it's always been a good experience for me. As long as you keep open communications with the company and show them what you have to offer it all works out.
I think the biggest part of obtaining sponsorships is having a new car that's in high demand. Older cars are great tuner cars, dont' get me wrong, but as far as market demand goes, they dont' pull enough weight to obtain sponsorships. All of my friends with old Truenos, 240s, etc, find it pretty much impossible to get a sponsor.
If you want to find legit sponsors, check the sponsorship thread and read through it. It helps alot!

Dont get me wrong, Im in no way badmouthing sponsorships. Hey, free stuff whether it be parts, labor, money, coverage...is all good. I am however trying to warn people of the things that they are unaware of and that get blinded out by the chance to say "I'm sponsored by..." I know quite a few sponsored cars of whom the owners are close friends, Ive heard everything from "I had to send my car to Florida from NY because of a photoshoot", "I cant drive the car because one little pebble will mess up the paint"
and Ive heard and seen great things come from sponors, I know exactly what your saying with the older car thing. It pretty much a lost cause trying to obtain legit sponsors with an older car unless your at a rediculous HP # and you have something others wouldnt think of or your a drift monster.. either way

Again, it's a double edge sword... I'm seeing that it will depend entirely on the individual that wants those travel headaches and the fact that it will require the vehicle to be in pristene condition. This line from turboz32; "I cant drive the car because one little pebble will mess up the paint"... If I was the one having this issue... I would seriously rethink the deal. I like to drive and if my future creation is sponsored and I'm afraid to get it chipped...? I would rethink the deal, seriously. That would be a waste of a build if I couldn't drive it for fear of a scratch and the loss of sponsorship because of it.

Agreed, however sponsors are willing to put money into your car if A.) you are going to give a positive name to their company by displaying it on your car/clothing OR you are going to buld your car to be, at least NCCA points wise the hottest car in the country. which is where that line came from, speaking with a contestant very high up in the NCCA points chase.

Very cool! At this point in my life I wouldn't do it, though. Got too much on my plate to even consider that even if I had the money and time to do it. I would love to hit the powerball some time soon...

I JUST DID THE CARSPONSORSHIPS.COM THING. I HAD TO PAY AN 89.00 ENROLLMENT FEE. I DON'T KNOW IF ITS GONNA BE WORTH DOING THE FULL SPONSORSHIP PROGRAM. BECAUSE YOU HAVE TO GET AROUND TO SHOWS TO FIRST CHECK OUT THE PRODUCTS, THEN YOU HAVE TO GO TO MORE SHOWS TO PROMOTE YOUR SPONSOR BEFORE YOU GET THE STUFF. YOU DONT HAVE TO ENTER SHOWS, JUST SHOW UP AND DO THINGS. OR YOU CAN BE SPONSORED AND THEN JUST TAKE THE DISCOUNTS. ITS WORTH IT ON SOME STUFF, LIKE THE BODY KITS OR THE RIMS, BECAUSE THE PRICE DISCOUNTS ARE WORTH IT. THE FULL SPONSORSHIPS, YOU HAVE TO BUY TICKETS TO THE SHOW...GET TO THE SHOW...AND I LIVE IN ny, THERE ARE NOT ALOT OF THESE AROUND. IF I LIVED IN cali, OR pheonix, IT WOULD BE ALOT EASIER. OUT HERE ITS HELL. i'M LOOKING TO TRY TO DO UP A CAR NO ONE HAS DONE BEFORE, THAT WOULD NEED MORE CUSTOM WORK DONE THAN ANYTHING ELSE, BECAUSE THERE IS VERY LITTLE AFTER MARKET MODS AVAILABLE. I THOUGHT I WOULD GIVE THE SPONSOR THING A SHOT, BUT I THINK I'M GONNA GET SHOT DOWN. CAN ANY ONE HELP WITH A CADILLAC?
