I have been into the underground racing scene I guess sense I was about 10 (went to my first illegal 10 years ago am 20 now) my uncle and my cousins husband got me into it. Well im looking for my first car now and well need help. I wanna know what would be the ideal first car to start upgrading? I will have around 10,000$ to spend for the car. Should I go new or used? Will also have about 1,000$ a month or more to spend on parts etc...
What should I get first for the car? What kind of performance parts make the most impact? Any answers are greatly appreciated thanks in advance!

Bro! I speak for all the families that have lost children in that type of racing arena. Do it on a legal track if you plan to race in the future. It's safer for all involved. Next... It's your tast and any car can be modified to run on track. Again, it's your tast and no one can really make that descision for you. If you've been around the "scene" and people that have done things to their cars, don't you think that it would have benefitted you to at least have learned how to build a car? I'm not talking down to you, so please don't take it the wrong way. You could get a lot of good advice from a forum like this but unless you're sure of your self and your tech skills it really doesn't matter what any body says. You know? As far as your descision on a car...? Again, your choice. There are plenty of buildable cars out there.

I wont really be joining in the illegal racings maybe go to show my car thats it. The first thing I would be going for is safety Harness seats etc. Maybe a drag late at night on a desolate road (i live in vegas lots of those in north side)but I havent really been around the people until now again which sucks. Ive been talking to my cousins husband and hes gonna try to find me a car because hes a tow truck driver and can get deals on impounds etc... I just love the way ricers look once there done under glow spoiler kits not to mention in vegas there are alot of people who are more fast and the furious kiddies getting rides with dumb ass spoilers and exhaust only on a car that you have to push to go fast.
I understand what your saying though I was just wondering what cars have better mod performance. Ya know? Thanks for the help though!

If you're lucky to find a Supra, that would be an excellent start. Hondas are a great start too. They have every thing under the sun for those... Too many around to be original, though. You've seen one, you've seen them all! Nissans have great potential as well, depending on what you want to build up. Mitsubishi and Subaru are good candidates as well. From those you can pretty much do any thing due to all that is available for them. The exterior look would more than likely be the biggest task. I like clean lines and a simple, yet elegant, look that hides what it really can do. That's my taste, though. You have a clean slate once you get what you want. Lucky duck!!!

Would a 5.0 1988 Foxbody mustang be pretty decent?

Yeah! If you want to spend the time under the hood more than driving... I used to have one of those and I wasn't very pleased with it. Then I had an 83 T-Bird and an 84 Cougar! Again, not too pleased with them. They were pretty cars but lacked in quality. All mid 80s cars had their problems, to be honest, but not like the American cars. American cars got better around the mid 90s on up. If you decide on a 80s relic of any make, remember to see if there are plenty of after market replacement parts for it. I'm having that trouble with my 1987 Nissan 200sx. It's in fairly decent shape but needs more to make it stand out. Other wise, every thing that I can't find will need to custom. Things to consider!

I don't understand why you can't fix your caps lock button Dynasty, but you make a good point.
The old Tiburons didn't sell for a reason. They were pigs in both styling and weight. The newer one however promises to have make all the steps in the right direction.
To answer your question, no an accent is not worth modding. I have yet to see a single accent at a show. Certain cars are meant to be beaten like a work horse, and that's one of them. Why did you buy the accent? Was it cheap? Is there any reason for you wanting to stick with Hyundai?

Pretty much got the accent for a credit builder and so in 10 months I can go get what ever car i want for cheaper. Tibs just always have looked nice to me for some reason I dunno. Kinda sad I drove by the area where the illegals get set up for in vegas and all there is are wrx sti and evos .... fast and the furious ruined under ground racing scenes T_T

You heard it from every one... Hyundai = beater car! They're not too bad on gas, though... Think it over really good before you jump into a car. It will be the car you're driving for a while till you get the one that will become the project!

Why is everyone talking down about hyundai accents? I like mine. I haven't seen a single mention of the accent in a good light. It makes me very depressed.

It's not that, it's just Accent's weren't really meant for the race scene. But hell any car can be made fast in my opinion with enough money. On a budget though, like this guy has, an Accent wouldn't be the way to go.

Hey UnperfectAccent, how many suped up Hyyundai have you ever seen? The brand it self isn't bad. It's just that they never really had any thing to compete against in the performance department. They are actually very good cars for every day use... Example; point A to point B type driving, as a high school girls first car, grocery getter type automobile, fuel economy saver, cheap to buy, easy to fix... SEE? They have their function in the auto industry, just not as performance cars. Even the Tiburon doesn't compete, considering it looks nice. But nice looking doesn't win races on track. Hyyundai are like Kia and Daewoo. WOW, I said Daewoo... Don't mind Daewoo, they are now defunct, rebadged and owned by Suzuki. I hope they killed all the bugs it had, thanks to GM. Any way, these types of cars aren't bad and no one hates them. They just don't have a spot for them selves in the performance arena.
