What do you do when theres something your trying to find out looked in all the Haynes manuals and spent endless days all over the internet?! Put it up in the forum! Theres this light on my instument panel and i cant find out what its trying to tell me. The car is an 1989 toyota supra and this thing looks like a cylinder with lines on it or in it with a circle on top. Ive used all common sense techniques

You may have to visit the dealer for an owners manual refference or have one of the techs look at it to see if they know. To me, it sounds as if there is a low fluid condition some where. Does it look like an exclamation in a circle? If so check your fluids. If all that is ok you may be looking at pre-OBD warning lights. The owners manual should have an explanation as to what it is, though.

Excellent!! Thank goodness you got that Haynes book. It saved you a trip to the dealer. With all the new stuff out there now, all the manufacturers are pretty much making the symbols universal in appearance now. The old warning lights are like ancient Egyptian writing, unless you have a book.
