Yes, I'm a newb, I am more of a visual style person when I was first introduced into modding cars but I'm coming into performance. I want a decent car that has a stock engine HP of 150+.
Year: 90+ preferably Pricerange: Dirt cheap-8k (Unless a newer model is available)
I've considered: Honda Civic Si Nissan 240sx Nissan 180sx Ford Mustang GT Chevrolet Cobalt Chevrolet Camaro (The newest before 08-09) Mazda 3 Mazda 6 Pontiac Grand/Trans Am (whichever is better)

well that would depend on what style you would be going for? if you go with a muscle car like the camaro or the trans am.. you can upgrade the crap out of them and make like 600hp plus.. but then your looking at the down side which is the gas milage your gonna be getting out of it..
if you look at the civic hatchback or the Si theres tons of modifications for those too.. and not only that you still get good gas milage and it will weigh lesser than a muscle car.. but also your gonna start with half the horsepower.. so it all depends on which way you wanna go..

m...something that will be good in the straight, great handling, decent accel, and an O.K. top speed
i'd like something with a decent gas mileage but this is not a MUST
hopefully i can achieve this with a small amount of modding at the start and build it up after a while

Most of the cars you listed are good except I would scrap a couple of them. Lose the Focus and Fusion. A Civic SI is better than the Hatch Cause it has vtech and probably the best car listed is the WRX STI.

i should've taken the WRX out because if i'm gonna spend 30k then i'd get an evo over it
