Does any one know how to go about getting a new/used cpu for the noissan 300ZX if you dont have the part number?

I have a 84 300ZX just had to get a CPU. Dealing with a used yard but can hunt one from all the states also they have a line on rebuilding original.

call a dealer to get the part number. maybe even a parts supply store will be able to look it up.

Pre 96' and OBDII free is awsome. The newer the PCM, let's say closer to the year 2000, the more chance you have of ecountering VIN recognition protocols. The entire system in the car, engine, body modules, trans configuration module, etc., communicates to the PCM and tells it that things are KOSHER. It's a more complicated explanation than what I gave but you know what I mean. I hope.
