Today we all learned some thing from the muscle heads in the domestic world. We do owe a debt of gratitude for the technologies that have filtered down to our little imports. But to insinuate that all of us are ricers? Dude, don't be a V8 huggin' ignant who talks out of his ass. Yeah, there are some out there that don't know a 13mm wrench from an air filter, but a lot of us on this forum don't qulify as that term regardless of who it is. Some do need education, sure, but we all build what we want cause it's fun to do and fun to se what happens after the build. And I speak for the serious builders when I say that. And as far as I'm concerned, if its for the love of imports, who cares? There are a lot of hondas that would eat V8s by virtual power to weight ratios. So think before you speak. Try putting an American V8 against a well built Evo or a well built 350Z! Then talk. I could be wrong, but that is what I under stood from the thread you wrote. Banter back, ya'll!

wow....harsh attacks on the EMO's man.....now idk whether or not to go delete the hawethorne heights from my library, anyway ricer is just a term that has become overused and now the definition is unclear to most. It's just easier to refer to the guys with neon and vert doors on civics as ricers, its grown on me and idk any other way to refer to them

I think it's a stupid analogy. When a domestic V8 lover uses it, it refers to all of us tuners... experinced or not. When us tuners use it we all know to whome it refers to... the wet behind the ears, just started driving, no control kids that think a performance air filter will give them out of this world horse power. It's offensive to us tuners, if you ask me, and I won't tolerate it! I will defend us... (super hero theme song put in here with chest sticking out...) I don't know why these dudes get on a forum dominated by tuners, most being serious tuners... civic.slow included, and waste our time with dribble. If you're not a tuner and want to learn, you are welcome in any time. But for Gods' sake keep the stupid V8 vs 4cyl crap out of it. We all know what we have and what are cars are capable of. We've proven it... Am I wrong? So if it's an education you want on the terms like "ricer", use it properly!  Again, that's just a shot in the dark, 'cause he hasn't responded us yet to explain the rap comment.

The meaning of ricer has developed over the last few years, but it isn't just imports now.

A "ricer" is anyone driving any kind of vehicle with retarded mods, thinks his stuff is fast, when in reality it's slow, talks like black monkey, etc....

We've got plenty of people who cruise around my town with mustangs, f-bodies, SRT's, and more that are all ricers. The best is talking to a lot of these people. They are so truly clueless.

Ricer is a term used to describe a person who mods a car from Japan, I have an Integra (that I have moded) so yes, I am a ricer. Stop getin all butt hurt about it. Imports can be very fast and nice, but so can any car.     O ya and blackmonkey you would need a WELL BUILT Evo or 350z to take on a American V8, just like you said... but lets not forget how much that costs, and by using the term "muslce heads" you just made yourself a total hypocrite.

haha, i love this term, people are either on one side or another. I believe it originally came from the 'domestic car' crowd to make fun of import cars with absolutely rediculous stupid mods, but it quickly came used by import racers themselves, so theres two sides to it. When used in a deroggotory form, it's reffering to idiotic mods on a car. When used casually, many times it simply refers to a 'common import' like civics, integras, etc or refers to any modified import car.

Bottom line, there's no set definition and many people use it in many ways, so it's all up to you on how you interpret it.

You know, I got to speak with hemihead426 and he's cool by me! All he wanted to know was why use the term in that way. When he put it in his rap form, I misunderstood what he was saying. That was my bad!
And BOOsted is sooooooo funny it makes me want to fart in his face and leave stains on it!! He's one to talk about talking nonsense. He still will not answer my question that I made to him about me not knowing any thing. I may make mistakes but I am open to an education by any one who can teach me when I'm wrong. No one can know every thing about every thing!!! I have been educated a few times but not by BOOsted... not yet any way!!! Still waiting!! I tip my hat to those educators... you have my deepest respect! You know... old dog new trick theory?

Maybe a 350Z, but Evo's are no slouches. With intake, downpipe, boost controller they are running 12's all day long. With a tune and intercooler can pick up even more. I don't know what American V8 you are driving, but Almost all of them save the Z06 are running 13's, 12's at best. An evo with very little mods will hang with, or beat a stock V8 car. ( Especially slow cars like Mustang GT's )

I'm a "musclehead", I drive a Mustang and a Camaro. Most of the guys I know who drive domestic V8s refer to the idiots with the 2 foot wing and the fart cannon as ricers. You know who I'm talking about. The problem is that these are the ones who will do the flyby and hit the flashers, or talk the most and not back it up, that's why you import guys get a bad name. The other problem is that I personally have only ran into one fast four banger ever, which was an SRT-4. The guy driving it was extremely cool, we pulled over after and exchanged numbers, now he cruises with us. Every other small four cylinder car that has ever tried to race me has been of the 16 second variety. I know a lot of other american car drivers have had the same experience, so that's why the import crowd gets a bad rap with us.

Hey stocktoyotajumper, I feel as you do and to think that my cousin would make stupid remarks about muscle cars is just plain... well, stupid. You're right about that but, again, that was not me talking about that. This is another thread that I have to defend my self on. MY theory on the term RICER is as follows. I don't care for racist remarks one way or the other. The term RICER reffers to asians and asian cars alike. Regardless of how it's used, it's still a racist term that has no place in the tuning world or any ones vocabulary. It's as bad as calling a Puerto Rican a *** Think about how many latinos you would offend by that one! My cousin is an idiot for using the term MUSCLE HEAD as well. I used to have a beefed up 83" T-Bird with a 500hp 5.0 engine. LABOR OF LOVE, that one was...! He drove it and liked it... My cousin is the hypocrite, not me. I've tuned every thing from pocket bikes to nitro powered remote control cars, so, tuning is a sport that involves any thing with an engine... to me, any way.
It's a good thing that I'm here to clear my position on this. I don't care much for racist terms that may offend people in one way or another. I will say this about ANY ENGINE so that no one confuses me with my cousins remarks... MONEY MAKES POWER AND IF YOU HAVE IT TO BURN, USE IT TO BUILD WHAT EVER ENGINE YOU WANT TO BUILD! It's your money, in the end. Who cares what any one thinks about the choice of make or model you use!
