The Nissan GT-R in Real Life - Wet Dreams on Rodeo Drive

What do GT-Rs and Rodeo Drive have in common? Quite a lot actually, at least for me. Rodeo Drive, out of all cool places, is where I first witnessed a new GT-R on the prowl.

Let me tell you, it looks even better in real life than on the cover of any car magazine. If you attended any car show recently you have no doubt seen one on display, but when you actually see one sitting on a public road next to some Hillary stickered Suzuki SUV, the real beauty and sheer beastliness of it becomes even clearer.

The GT-R looks like a Z on a double dose of anabolics - in a good way, a very good way! Forget the whole MLB debacle, steroids are great for you! J/K haha, but this thing is f*ckin mean! When I first saw the four round taillights from a distance I immediately knew what was up, and when I got closer and saw the light glimmering off the massive exhausts, my hopes were confirmed.

The GT-R isn’t a tiny car, but it’s not massive either. It’s actually just right! For example, when you see a Lamborghini, you notice how wide and large it is, but for some reason it just looks right. Same for the GT-R; a car of this caliber can’t be the size of a thirty year old British roadster or Miata unfortunately. (I love those cars and I wish they made more bare-bones, nimble sports cars these days for the purist, but for what it is the GT-R is simply amazing).

The GT-R looks way sleeker and refined in real life then in photos. I’ll admit when the first pictures started leaking out and being spread around the internet, the car looked questionable to me. It looked a bit bulky, a bit fat and it looked way too high off the ground to be a sports car to me. Also, the initial design of the front grille and bumper looked weird. The good news now is that I had NONE of these impressions when I saw it in real life. The car looks built but chiseled, had not an ounce of fat, and the car was not at all high off the ground. The exhaust outlets look enormous just like in the photos, and it really adds menace to the rear-end (which is what almost everyone will be seeing on the street or on the track if you know how to drive).

For around $70k, you can’t go wrong if you want a Porsche and Corvette killer. I think the Corvette guys will be annoyed to no end when they learn the hard way that a Japanese car in the same price range as their Corvettes can roll them up and smoke them like a joint on the road course OR the 1320 all day long, AND cruise home in one piece while providing MORE comfort and MORE stares from onlookers. You just can’t go wrong. Cheers to Nissan!

Oh, and a shout-out to all the friendly Nissan and Bridgestone product planning and promotional staff that were out there, you guys are great! Thanks for emailing the pictures Pete!

Try 120k with included dealer mark-up and various nickel and dime tactics from your local friends at Nissan. Even at 120k I'd say that this car is definitely a steal. Afterall, you can't really put a price on exclusivity and the prestige of owning an almost exotic car.

Nice picture by the way. :P

'Nough said, I guess. It is a Pretty car. I've only seen one on the road where I live here in Ct. It is well designed. I wonder who will be crazy enough to squeeze more horses out of it and get it put on Super Street? It will definately be some one with cash to burn on a project like that.
