K, so I just got a used car from my old man,
but the problem is that he hasn't maintained the car at all.
Like aside from anything else, he hasn't been in for an oil change in over 5 years.
It's got a brand new rebuit transmission in it tho,
but now I'm looking to drop a new Engine in.

It's a 1997 Lexus ES300
V6 3.0L
If anyone can give me some sites where i could buy a new one or any rebuild kits that'd be great.

Thanks alot guys.

I'm really not sure, but I would look at eBay first. There has to be a motor for ur car. Good luck.

How bad did it look inside? Did you inspect the bearings while in there. Oil that has sat for a while with out being changed becomes caustic and eats at every thing. I would change the oil pump and any other essential component to limit the amount of possible issues that may arrise from lack of attention. Oil does brake down after a while and is not as affective at lubricating when it gets to a certain state durring its use. The areas of greater concern is the parts of the engine that you can't see unless you break it down and inspect it. You've already done that, though, and I'm wondering how it looked in those areas... Oh well, time will tell.

Wow. I'm astounded that it ran after not being driven for 5 years and all you had to do was clean out the block and put in some new spark plugs.

Cool post though. Got any pics? any plans?
