I'm going to try and keep this story short... key word being "try"! I went to visit a friend this past weekend. He's an avid GM fan and loves his Camaros and Firebirds and TransAms... any way, we were discussing imports and such and well... He will not admit that imports have better power to weight potentials than domestics. He's still in denial! He owns a Camaro with 450whp. Not too bad, actually. We went to the store, that same night on saturday @ 11:15pm, and were still having the discussion when another buddy of mine pulled up next to the Camaro in his WRX STI. I had a hand in that Subarus build so I knew what it could do. Well, needless to say, there was some words and some posturing from my buddy in the Camaro. My other buddy in the Suby smiled and told him to put his money where his mouth was. I'm not happy with what happened next and did not condone it for one second... They raced for about two to three lights and well... The Camaro got stomped on severely!!! I was not in the Camaro to keep it fair. I got a ride back to my car in the Suby and my Camaro buddy drove his car to the Subys house... YUP, he lost the Camaro!!! I told him and that is what he gets for not listening. He still won't admit to the loss. That is what you call a hard headed dufuss. I love him like a brother but, MAN!!!

Are you saying that a 450 WHP Camaro and a STi went street racing, and to top it off, they raced for pinks and the Camaro owner had to hand over the keys?

YES AND YES!!! The Suby had major up grades and my buddy in the Camaro was told about it. He was not impressed and still wanted to prove that he could beat the Suby! POWER TO WEIGHT will always determine the out come. They both race avidly on track and I was dissappionted when they succombed to street racing. In the end no one was hurt, thank GOD, except for my Camaro buddys' pride.

I hear you and agree totally! He called me again about 40 minutes ago to *** some more for me posting what happened to him! He doesn't have the cojones to explain himself on this forum so I did it for him. I am a little more bias towards my imports but to lose a pretty car like a Camaro in a street race... and with all that was put into it!!!! MAN, I just laugh at him for not taking my advice. I told him that it was a respectable loss to a Suby, though, and to thank his lucky stars that it wasn't a Kia or a Hyundai that stomped him good! Then it would really be a joke!!! Or would the Japanese import have real competition from main land Asia?!?! HHMMM...

camaro's aren't THAT heavy and the subaru WRX sti platform is far from a "light wight" platform............
the subaru sti has a *** load of luxries that other car's pull out. and the later camaro's didn't weigh too much either
curb weight for a 2004 (newer years are heavier) STI 3296 lbs
fourth generation camaro 2dr 3436
seems all you do on here is talk *** then not prove anything
NOT TO *** MENTION IT IS CHEAPER TO MOD THE LS1 THAN THE *** EJ25!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
you're a dumbass

And you, my stupid young friend, have no idea what it is to be a real tech... MR. Part Time. Keep being a Honda spokes person and don't give advice like the child that you are! You don't seem to get that if you want respect you need to earn it. Oh, I forget that I'm talking to the IDIOT that can't remember a conversation to save his life and GPA!!!! Don't push it, kid, 'cause you don't even know what was done to the Suby where it was capable to beat the Camaro!!! Since you're so scientific and knowledgeable maybe you can tell me more with out full info.... You've already shown what a kid you are. Comments that you made in the past have shown every one what a child you really are. My 15 year old nephew is more mature than you are and knows how to keep the peace with people, unlike you... MR. KNOWITALL!!!! I'll be waiting to see how much more about Subys you know. I'm not a Subaru expert and have never claimed to be. That is so you don't put words into my mouth like you like to do. Helping some one build is not the same as building! OK, kid? So lets see how far you take this before you get schooled by a Subaru expert! And so you don't think that you know every thing... the Suby was pushing 540hp to the wheels... so with the figures you gave in your thread that makes the power to weight topic more relevant...STUPID!!!

Oh, and as far as what it costs to build a LS1... who gives a flying leap to hell!!!!???? I hang with people that have money and are in the buisness of building street and race machines! And they have money to burn, unlike you! So if some one with money to burn wishes to build any car, who are you to kill some ones dream, like you *** what ever that car may be?!? You are not the type of person to be honest and caring about some one elses needs or wants 'cause you spend too much time being a Honda spokes person by pushing your K2* powered Honda that isn't even finished!!!! Finish it and then talk junk, kid. I know that every one will agree with me on this one! Try to school a Subaru schooled tech and you'll end up getting verbally smacked on your earlobe!!! IF ANY SUBARU PEOPLE ARE READING THIS, PLEASE SCHOOL THIS PUNY PERSON AND PUT HIM IN HIS PLACE!!!

An update: My friend want me to help him put in a Z06 engine and transmission set up in an old 1971 Camaro. The car has been sitting in his garage for some time but it's in mint condition. I think that it's going to be a cool build. Old and new, together. And I know why he wants to do this new project... it's his money and I am more than willing to help him. Lets see where this journey takes him...!

Hey blackmonkey,
Dont take this offensively, but if he wants to be a "kid" then so be it, why not be the bigger man and just ignore what he has to say.
I've always been taught to just ignore people because if they're wrong, they'll learn it the hard way.

Dude, I'm a 39 year old man and I know when to take good advice when I get it! You are completely correct about that! civic.slow is just mad as hell about being put in his place and is trying to get my goat. I bite... really hard and if dude was next to me flapping off at the mouth it would end swiftly. I know how big my balls are! But I also know when I'm wrong when told! Thank you, kwong, for reminding me about who the better man should be. It may sound corny, but, I am indebted to you for that. As for civic.slow... YOU STILL HAVE NOT GIVEN A REASON FOR WHY YOU CALL YOUR SELF civic.slow! It's an oxymoron if you have a Honda and claim to be fast with it.

Blackmonkey. I get a headache just reading your posts because of the pure stupidity and nonsense that you go on about.
You are an idiot if you can't figure out simple, basic math. With more displacement, you can make more power. ( There's no denying that. ) The potential for better power to weight ratio depends on the vehicle, but most vehicles with larger displacement will have the advantage.
I don't understand why you can't wrap your little brain around that.
I also don't want to hear any crap about me being a domestic lover. Why? Because I don't own one. I own 3 Turbo Mitsu's.
See, what you are is a 39 year old loser, who doesn't really know anything about cars. You make up stories online, and somehow think you are cooler.
Feel free to argue with me about anything, you'll lose. And before you start going around with these retarded stories, why don't you put your stuff up? I can guarantee, my slow crawling pos will rape your vehicle. I'm not talking your friends, your dads, or anyone elses. I'm talking YOUR car.
