What's up? I've got an '03 P5. Since you did the swap, I don't know how many things you'll find that'll bolt right in, since it's a different model, but I did a K&N Typhoon intake on mine. What's neat about these is you can choose whether to do a short-ram, or a cold-air intake. They give you all the tubing and pieces to do either. It was pretty easy to install, and gives the car a cool sound. There are a couple of different turbo systems out there, too. I think the setup from the Mazdaspeed version will essentially bolt-up, since internally, the engine is the same. You'd just have to swap out the ECU, too. But that might mess up your speedo and other things. Not sure about that. I have some Tein coilovers too, but I don't know if they'll fit on a '96. There's stuff out there if you dig a little, but not as much as if you had a Civic or Integra. Hope this helps.

This post was put up almost a year ago, on 05/14/07 to be exact. I think that ezmoney45 has rectified his problems already since then. The suggestion given so far are half correct. The 2L engine up grade is good, but slapping on a turbo without lowering the compression ratio, to any non-turbo engine, is asking for engine failure. Majorly! A turbo will give you more out put, true, but if you slap on bolt-ons with out cosidering what will fail due to all those new internal forces being applied you, inevitably, will end up making more expensive repairs. Stock non-turbo intakes and exhaust also need to replaced. It would be like sucking air through a straw, if you leave those stock items on. More air requires more fuel. Port matching of the intake and exhaust manifolds and valve work also need to be considered when adding a turbo. None of these things could be done with out properly planning out the end result of this type of up grade. And also think of the money involved to do all that I mentioned so far. First think of how much your willing to put into this kind of project and then see what's possible within that budget. Money makes horse power and reliability. Planning and doing the right thing with the right parts will go a long way to having a fun, fast ride. Oh, almost forgot... Also consider what all those engine up grades does to your transmission clutch and drive line.( if it's a manual trans.) Automatics don't fare too well with turbo upgrades unless overhauled with the proper internal components. Geesh, that is sorta' adding up now isn't it? That is some thing to consider. I hope this helps any one reading this.

Sorry dude, I can't help you there. I stopped being very familiar with the Mazda line since Ford took them over some time ago. A lot of changes have been made since then. I've done general maintenance but never really got into it too much. There is one engine that Mazda and Ford share that needs to be avoided, in my oppinion. It's the 2.3L or 2.4L engine, it's been a while since I worked on one so please forgive me for not remembering too well. This engine does not have a key way at the shaft pulley timing gear (pulley) and this poses a lot of uneasy questions for tuning if it is found in other Mazda models as well. There are speacialty tools needed to set the timing and to help torque the bolt on the pulley correctly. Some research will be needed if going for a newer model engine. Like I said, I don't know how many other Mazda models have this particular engine. Good luck.

I was never really fond of those Mitsubishi/Chrysler remnants that exist today. They never really hit me with the quality issues. Thank God that Mitsubishi pulled out when it did 'cause they were being weighed down by Chrysler, at the time of their merger. Chrysler has improved by leaps and bounds, though, since Daimler took control. They still have some minor issues, but way better by far. It's not a bad ride that you have. It actually has a cool stealthy look to it... Like a ninja. Too bad it doesn't handle like one. That could be remedied, though! Good luck with it!
