Hey guys, Love the sight, check it every day. I am 23 years old have no mechanical background but love cars. I want to get into tinkering with a car and making it fast as hell but do not know where to start. I figure I will take an auto class at the local community college so that takes care of that. I was wondering if you guys could give me some advice on an initial car to go with. I have $10,000 to invest in something that I want to work on the rest of my life (inheritance from my Grandmother). I was thinking an Integra that I could swap a turbo engine into down the line? I dont know I hope im not spamming your mailbox with this but Im new to the game and thought you guys might be able to help me out, I would appreciate any advice you could give me, Thanks!

I know this is the last place to say such a thing but I'll say it anway... you just got 10 grand cash, and the first thing you're gonna do is blow it all on some car??
I'v put at least that much money into my last two cars myself, but if I had a whole 10 grand at once sitting in the bank waiting for me to touch it (which I never have), I don't think could bring myself to letting it all go.
Why don't you invest it, start your own business doing something small and meanwhile drive a very cheap car. Then when your profits start coming in, you will have extra money toward your new car, and most importantly your money won't be finite like the inital $10k... Then if you feel, you can always cash out and sell the business for more and buy an amazing car ![]()
The reason I say this is because I was just talking to this kid down the street who is 19, and we talked about how just sold his window washing business he started a few years ago for 10 grand!
He started out small and did all the neighbors and everyones house in the local area for FREE, did it very well, then when they got dirty again in a few months or so, and they hired him for the regular price of $100-150 per house. Once he built up a couple hundred regular customers over 2-3 years, he sold it to some guy for 10 grand! He barely had any start-up capital, and he was still in high school when he started so all he did was make money out out practicaly nothing!
Now you have all this potential as well, AND you have $10,000 to start something much larger and more profitable then this guy, so why not try to create a way to double your money at least and then buy the car from that?? Think about it. It's what I would do, and this way you would be a baller and run your own company without the 9-5 hassle!
