I hate to bash on fellow tuners, but I'm inclined to agree with the above poster.

What is your reasoning for choosing a 95 Maxima as your project? Why not choose a car that leans more towards performance instead of an economical commuter car?

Most people will agree that modding an older (2000 and below) civic is pretty played out, but 240sx's are pretty much the RWD equivalent of the Civic. It's been done before.

Since you're on a teenagers budget, I'd suggest one of two things.

First, either go for the civic/240 and gain experience on them. since there's a HUGE knowledge base for both cars, you won't run into too many problems because at least 50 other people have done exactly what you're going to do to them. K20 swaps and SR20 swaps are fairly common, and most aftermarket companies produce kits, mounts, and just about everything you'll need to do it without having to know any custom fabricators.

Second, buy an economical newer car like a Scion or low-end economy car that will get you through college without having to worry about it breaking down on you. This is the wiser of two choices. Most people who mod cars know and will tell you that it's a MONEY PIT. You will undoubtedly spend countless hours and invest thousands into your new hobby, so if you don't have a lot of spare time to work on your new found passion, put it off until you have a stable job and are out of your parents basement. Pick up a Yaris/xB/xA/xD, buy some afforable subs and Motegi's and stick to cheap mods until you can afford a nicer car to mod.
