IN RESPONSE TO 2JZ_FTMFW

we know honda's GOOD, but no one cares.....u dont hear much about their motorsports unless you are well informed.....most pple just see the local kids in their civic's and accords who always wanna race and brag about how big their spoiler is......"ricer" isnt a car category it is the person...but "RICE" is a car category, which is the car owned by ricers. And often times those cars are civic's and type r's and in general honda's, so that connection has been made..Honda=Rice/ricer....Lin general hondas are associated with ricers cuz amy of thir models are "?riced?"... look at a Wings west catalogue and you'll see what i mean  but Hondas shouldnt be the only companies accociated with "ricing". Toyota has their corolla, Ford has their focus, Nissan have their sentra, Mazda have their Protege and sadly Mitsubishi have their 3rd gen GS eclipses. The main def. of "Ricer" is someone who takes looks and aesthetics over performance... All show and no go...so in general you could consider scrapers and their Caddy's "ricers" wiht their 26's and their "King Kong" in the trunk.

oh and honda yea honda make good engines and all that Vtec crap, thats all theyre good at though. If you think about it the only car that was solid on every level not only engine performance was the NSX...THE ONLY ONE!!! The s2000 is plastic so it doesnt count. In fact all their F1's are just good engines wrapped in plastic...THAS ALL HONDA IS GOOD FOR!!! Plus its not like theyre the best too Mitsubishi, Nissan, Toyota and Mazda are very close but they do a much better job on other levels.
Plus Honda is, to me, mainly Motorcycles, thats where they started out, those were their roots and thats where they did the best. i dont recognize them as good a car company, theyre only successful now cuz of their fuel econimic cars.

Yes the civic isnt a race car its a fuel economic practical car....but if HONDA would stop portraying it as a race car with thier "TYPE R" and "MUGEN" and all that Maybe people wouldnt consider it one!!!!! You cannot argue that the Honda civic hasnt been the biggest contributor to the breed know as ricers.

And u r right.. the pple bashing Honda here just because everyone else is doing it and now theyre like "man you know what i hate those ricers, theyre so annoying with their honda accords and type r's with gieant wings and widebodies who think they can beat me and my 500hp s13 on the highway just because his spoiler is bigger than mine. YEA MAN I F***in HATE THOSE HONDA RICERS, YEA IF U HAVE A HONDA/CIVIC UR A RICER LOSER LOSER. YEA I GO TO FORMULA D ALL THE TIME, YEA IM A DRIFTER, YEA *** THOSE HONDAS AT SEMA!!! " are all stupid and as bad as ricers.

Ppple need to know that Honda isnt bad because of 'ricers' like u sed man. I just hate Honda cuz theyre Honda and i ahte theyre cars. Personally i hate ricers cuz i think its stupid and a waste of money for crappy bodykits that just add more weight. im sick of using the word ricer, and im sick of hearing about them....THEY WILL ALWAYS EXIST FOR AS LONG AS 17 YEAR OLDS THINK THEIR PARENT'S CIVICS AND COROLLAS ARE SPORTS CARS!!

2JZ is right...Honda has come out with some great engines and if you think that civics are untunable then you need to hit your books again.  The reason that a lot of people hate civics are because the kids that want to modify them are uneducated when it comes to the after market industry. I will admit that F&F was a definite proprietor to the ignorance of how to tune cars properly which led to kids thinking that because it was in a movie and made the car faster that means that the same would apply to they're car. For a decent amount of kids, they are stuck with hand-me-down cars, many of which are civics because they're family wanted a fuel economic car. These cars do have some untapped potential that others don't. For one, they weight of these cars is remarkably low which results in much higher power to weight ratios that muscle cars could only dream of. And many people bash on Hondas a lot but every manufacturer that has ever had a tuner following has had their own ricers too. But a solution to this problem is to a) be educated enough yourselves to find a solution to the ricer problem and b) why not talk to these ricers, educate them, don't make enemy's of them.  Tuners in general are a misunderstood group and the only way we can proceed in our hobby is to educate those that give tuners a bad name.

i dont mean to knock you down but it seems you may have seen the rear-end of one or two of these ricer cars you keep naging about. You are right though that must of them are kids and in saying that "not all kids have the dough to make the rides go" so they buy what they can afford and are proud of what they have accomplished. It's these kids that will shape our next racing style, scene and class of cars. I will say this also, some of the new hp mods and tricks were evented by these poor kids with a fever for speed and style. The racing scene is made up of all groups and we all use pages from one anothers books in our rides. I guess what i'm trying to say is next time you go into walmart and see a group of cars with little or no mods dont be a poser of a friend to them and knock their rides, besides racing and creating a racer is a growing process that takes time to learn.

I agree with you up to an extent there, bud. First it's not a nismo senta, or should it be spelled "sentra". There is no such thing as a nismo sentra. It's the Nissan Sentra Spec V, pronounced "vee" like the letter it is. And the engine the Spec V came with was, unfortunately, not made for its true purpose. They stopped making the focus svt in "02", and good luck finding one in good shape. Even though Hondas are a bit, excuse me, a lot played out there is no reason why some one couldn't get an SI engine and make their moms econoride a serious sleeper. I'm not much for that kind of work on some thing  that every one made boring, but to each his own. I've never built any thing under 400hp and I've always been a Nissan lover, so... I used to have the classic of all Datsun sport cars, a "71" 240Z, and that was redone @ 600hp. I lost it to an 18 wheeler while parked on the side of the road. I was in the hospital for three months. And for you wet behind the ear ricers, NO IT'S NOT A 240SX OR A SILVIA. That's Nissan I'm talking about Datsun, way before Nissan purchased Datsun in the early "80s".  Any way dude, don't knock them for trying just educate them like I do on the legal drag strip and take their cars. May be they'll learn exactly what you said... It takes some real money...

the 240z was a destroyer, for almost the whole decade it was one of the most sought after sports cars

miamito616, I had 3 at one point in my life and yeah it was a destroyer. Actually I had quite a few Datsun relics that were sleepers and pulled well over 400hp @ the wheels. A 1977 810 Maxima wagon. A bumble bee Datsun 210. The "71" Z that I lost. 2 "73" Zs and a "74" 260Z. Those were the days. I'm only 39 and have had some serious fun building engines and suspension up grades for these cars. And that's what it truly is about, FUN. Yeah, there are a lot of wet behind the ears, pimple faced pups out there that really don't know real horse power from a horse drawn cart. All folks like us, that know true power and performance, have to do is race them, take their cars and give them to our respective partners or family members as gifts. Now what could be better than a car that you won from an idiot, pimple faced kid that shows off or talks too much. Let's not trash them, let's start a new opportunity to make some money off of them. And dude, not to hate on you at all but Mitsubishi is sort of starting to get played out as well, even though I have deep respect for the only true competitive monster car that they have. The EVO! Every thing else they have is sort of... for girls

all i have to say is before you start calling all Hondas "Ricers" do some research because there are some pretty bad a55 Hondas out there that is nothing compared to "ricer" or any of that sort.

ok i can see where your aggrevation is coming from but a honda civic is a good car to start with whether it is your moms or not it gets you into the scene and interested in tuning. my guess is they were younger kids just tryin to show up for someone ie maybe you ? so that should make you feel good. anyways im not putting you down but your knowledge of hondas is somewhat incorect all domestics hondas are made from either the accord or civic platform so if honda does make a sportscar it very well might be based off of the civic platform.  and watch for the return of the crx in possible 2010 based on civic platform with a turbo vtech from the acura rdx ive heard this is a real possibility considering the sucsess of the fit  tc all

Mi compadre and fellow patriot in tuning. That's you, miamito616. That is why they call it a prototype. You will never see 100% of evry thing you see done for the streets.
Any way, just to keep real about this gay new economy. You can blame President Chooch (Bush), and every politician before him, for our head aches. Due to all that has happened in the past 6 years, since he's been in office, things have been progressively getting worse. Our national deficit is at a historical high. And who do you suppose is going to pay for all that war spending that Pres. Chooch has bestowed upon our nation... Our kids and grandchildren, that's who. I don't see this hobby of ours lasting 10, 15 or even 20 years more due to every thing that's happening now. World oil reserves are at least 50 years to depletion at current consumption and we haven't even begun to touch the subject of how our hobby and sport is going to fit in when the poop hits the fan. I goof on all those wet behind the ears, pimple faced idiots as much as ever one else but who do you think will take tuning to the next level? I don't think I'll live long enough to see that horrible day when the world runs out of oil and we still haven't found a viable fuel sourse.  Don't get me wrong, I will continue to goof on them but also educate and fill them with exitement for the trade and hobby that you and EVO_someday enjoy so much. And for all the V8 porkers out there who feel that the 4cyl. and inline 6 engines can't compete... this whole economy thing also affects you just as much and even worse. Your fuel hungry, easy to build, non-challenging, every one's done it already engines are to blame for the fuel economy issue. I love a solid, woody stiffening V8 as much as any red blooded American but when it comes to power to weight ratios and what has already been done to imports in the name of HORSE POWER... well, lets just say that you need to work with us tuners. Like I said, this issue affects you as well. Let's all have fun in the name of HORSE POWER. Mellow dramatic, you say??? May be so, but just keep an eye on our economy and see if it doesn't affect us.
