You are correct, it did win. Correct me if I'm wrong here, but that was a "track only" car, designed only to be driven in competitions and not necessarily ready to drive on the street. The other cars were street cars that were modified for track use.

Sure, with GM's time and development money behind it. GM didn't "cheat" but clearly they didn't spare any cost because if you haven't noticed GM ain't doing to well and the success of the Cobalt is very important to them not posting another year of record losses and lost market share. And oh yeah, they were the only factory vehicle there...

Allright, here's one for you. The new dodge Caliber, replacing the neon int the sport-compact area, is an american vehicle, but uses the World engine, which was a joint-effort between DaimlerChrysler, Mitsubishi Motors, and Hyundai, and on top of that it undoubtedly uses several peices of Mercedes tech in it. Soo...what do we call this?

This is what we call the new age of auto manufacturing. but really not that new since auto companies have been doing it for years. As far as whether a car is an import or not, look at where the car is built. Then again nocar anymore is a domestic or an import really, they are what I like to call conglomerate vehicles. Parts made everywhere on the planet and built possibly in the US or Canada, Mexico, Japan, Europe, etc.
As far as ricers being pathetic, I just ignore the wannabes, and respect the real peeps out there. Its just the nature of the beast that these poseurs will always be around as they always have been.

Ummm, not entirely true there. My Murano (according to the window sticker put on by nissan) lists Parts=Japan 100%; Assembly=Japan 100% My WRX was 99% for both parts and assembly which is about as close to falling under the definition of "pure import" as possible and as far away from "domestic" as possible.

True enuff tjamz, the same goes for my STI. I should have said that in general, vehicles are not all one country make anymore. there are exceptions to this, as you stated tho. Thanks for the correction.

First, I'm not in here to just to bash on imports. I have respect for EVO, WRX, Supra, 350Z and many more.
I'm just sayin that when a ricer gets his firts taste of The Fast And The Furious, he automatically assumes that he can take his moms Civic and turn it into a racing beast and can beat anything out on the road.
It's morons like these that make the whole import tuner scene look bad. It's people like you that give people who are for real a bad name.
One night when I got off work, I went to a local Wal-Mart and when I pulled up in the parking lot I saw about 2 Honda Civics, a Ford Focus, a Plymoth Neon and a Mitsubish Eclipes. So I proceeded to go and talk to these morons to see if they were for real. Guess what? They were all show but no go, from nice bodykits, neon lights, custom wheels, and a bangin' steroe system.
Their only mods consist of the ol' usually rice stuff that they get from Pep Boys, E-bay or even Wal-Mart. We all know what that stuff is so I'm not going to do into detail here.
BUT, They all claim that there rides make blazing HP. One of them told me that he gained 12HP just by changing his shift nob. Now, if you ask me don't you think that all of us would be changing shift nobs if it grants you easy HP, and I also guess that the color matters too huh. They also told me that there rides were all Type R. Hello, Now correct if I'm wrong but didn't only Acura produced a Type R version of 3rd generation Integra from 1998-2001. Another one told me that he gained an amazing 25HP just by switching to a cone filter. They also claim that they all had a Nos setup too. They then decided to lift their hoods up and show me some of there engine mods. I looked at there motors and all I saw on all of them was a Cold Air Intake. That was it. No turbo, no intercooler, no nothing just a $50.00+ Cold Air Intake that can be made for less than that.
So to all you ricers listen up:
You don't know nothing about cars or even how a engine works you only know what you see on TV. So just stop trying to turn your moms Honda Civic into a race car. It is not a sports car like you ricers think it is. If Honda was going to make a sports car they sure wouldn't use the Civic platform for one.
And also if you decide to even try to turn moms Civic into a Pocket Rocket your are going to need more than just a Cold Air Intake and your Coffee Can for an exhaust. You are going to need to spend some money and I do mean money
Now here is some advice, I do understang that imports like Civics, Focus's and many more can look good. If you want these cars fast why don't you get the souped up version of it.
-If you want a Dodge Neon - get the SRT/4 Neon -If you want a Nissan Sentra - get the Nismo Senta -If you want a Ford Focus - get the SVT Focus -If you want a Mazda 3 - get the Madza Speed 3 -If you want a Honda Civic - get the SI Civic -If you want a Chevy Cobalt - get the SS Cobalt -If you want to get serious - get a EVO, WRX, GTO
All of these cars I mentioned above come from the factory already fast and can be made faster with just a few mods and you morons will save money instead of trying to make your moms ecobox fast.
P.S. Don't watch too much Fast And The Furious because too much Fast And The Furious can damage you brain cells. It's a drug.
I'm out.
MMMMM..MMMMM.....M......M......MMMMM .....M......M......M.....M......M......M .....M......M....M.......M......M......MMM .....M......M......M.....M......M......M .....M......M......M.......MMM........MMMMM

Since we are now refering to all Jpanese made cars "rice" we need a name for all American cars. What food sums up American culture as a whole? SPAM. Hell yes. Form now on all mustangs, cobalts, etc. are to be called SPAM. Perfect The Scattareggia

See the problem with those guys in the Wal-Mart isn't that they are sporting nothing under the hood, it's that they are putting on the wrong mods. You don't add a shift knob to gain 12HP... who does that? Your supposed to put the big TYPE-R sticker on the rear deck lid... that adds 50HP! Do the math!

i think it is funny how people like u decide to rip on people who are trying to get into the import scene.. one thing i do agree about is when dumbasses claim that their stock car is so fast.. then they deserve it, but when there is 17 yr olds like me who are just trying to get their car started with a very limited budget then y u gotta autimatically call us ricers?
