Ok import drivers,admit it.Ever since they stopped making THE FAST AND FURIOUS movies import popularity is dying.I would like to start off by bragging my 12 second LT1 has never lost to an import so I can talk all the crap I want.I still dont know why some of you all even bring your imports to the Drag Track and run 16s-17s in the 1/4.You are just embarassing yourself.Do yourself a favor and buy some American Muscle because if you dont like the sound of a V-8 rumble you arent a true American.

haha. you suck.
1. The import scene isnt dying. its just returning to its original state of true enthusiasts.
2. Taking your 16 second car to the track is fine if you are going just to have fun. Its not fine if you think your 16 second car is fast and you talk trash.
3. A 12 second lt1 is respectable but far from unbeatable. Do yourself a favor and get your facts straight... so weak

Hmm. For starters my IMPORT. Runs a 13.8 STOCK. So that blows your 16/17 second runs out of the water. Second of all. After its done it will be in the low 10's and if i want to i can get it running high 9's. Pretty bad when your getting your ass beat by someone with a smaller motor eh?

yeah it all comes down to taste. you cant say the tuner cars cant be fast, theyve more than proven themselves. when N/A civics hit 9's, cant say theyre slow anymore haha (not that it takes THAT to be quick). like said before, doesnt matter if you run 16's as long as you know what you have. i may be getting an 87 nonturbo supra. i know it isnt very fast, but its a very nice platform and i think ill have blast with it on the autox courses after a bit of suspension work and some added power.
few years ago, i hated civics and such. its because around me, no one has one thats decent. grew up absolutely loving chevies and muscle cars, and i still like them (love cruising in my cousin's LT1), but i learned it really doesnt take a whole lot to make these cars(civics, 'tegs, things of that nature) quick. as far as it dying, who cares i dont think it is, the people who are "leaving" werent really in it if theyre leaving. there'll always be people out there looking for an affordable car to upgrade, and though american cars cant retain their value at all, imports will be always be around

in my mind, tuning imports or old school muscle is just an expession of individuality, to say one or the other is better is like going to and art gallery and making fun of piccasso but totally loving da-vinci. older just have a different way of tuning, having no computer does that, but they having been around longer has given them time to be tinkered with, the newer imports have to have science (i.e. maps completely redone on a dyno) so its a toss up as to who is better. I myself, have an import im working on on the weekends (im a mechanic by the way) but i do have to say that i cant help but imagine the things i could do with the 75 monte carlo that has gone up for sale down the street from where i work, or the 2 RX-7's that are across the street.

Perhaps another thing to consider is that if actual numbers could be provided regarding the import performance industry, it may seem like figures have gone down, when in actuality they may simply have shifted. Tuners nowadays may have slightly different foci than even tuners as recently as say 8 years ago. With the greater popularity of automotive events such as auto cross, time attacks, and drifting, the numbers may seem to reflect a decrease in straight line performance parts (custom cams, larger turbos, etc.) This seeming decrease may have just shifted to less noteworthy parts (relatively speaking) such as sway bars, brake rotors, etc.
All show and no go can leave you feeling empty. All go and no show can leave you feeling embarrassed.

I think they are really just talking about how "in your face" it used to be. I remember when I couldnt leave my house without seeing 4-5 fast and furious wanna be cars driving down my street.

well some things are fab then canned- like im told that im dumb for wanting to go to this massive rave- that it was "so 5 years ago" but yo, whatever- everyone has different their coming intos than others so for the fast and furious kids- they got in- and are out-

I dunno about anyone else, but I've noticed this weird thing that lots of domestic vehicles tend to die after not too many years of steady driving. Whereas Toyotas, Hondas, even Volkswagens(being a V-Dub owner myself) can last into the 400k km range (yes kilometres, I'm Canadian) and still run fine. I live in a backwoods town, and the only people who buy domestic are the hillbillys and rednecks who cant get enough Ford Dodge and Chevy actions. But everyone else drives Toyotas, V-dubs, Hondas and Subarus because the LAST. And this doesn't even have anything to with tuning necessarily, it's just a proven fact that these import cars are straight-up better vehicles

Before I start getting hated on, this is just the trend in my particular town. I'm not saying domestics shouldn't be owned. I'm a huge muscle car fan myself. I'm just saying that where I live, this is how it seems to go

Both serve their purposes, although it does seem Imports have a better history when it comes to longevity
