Alright, well ive been apprenticing in a garage for the last year and a half learning every bit i can about the basics of the car while me being a "yewt" or a "young buck" as they call me lol i wanna get into more the the performance and diagnostic things of cars.. but anyway thats off the subject of what id like some advice on lol.
Sorry you pontiac lovers but i hate pontiacs besides the 69 Firebird
but i bite the bullet and bought a 2000 Pontiac sunfire it was at our shop on a lean the customer gave it to us they didnt wanna put the money into it but the body work of the car is in perfect condition few knicks and scratches but i can buff them out (and already have )
so i got
200 Pontiac sunfire 2.2 (not a 2.4 ) Put a new Jasper Engine in her (already seated the engine in) Ive put custom exhaust on it Ive Ordered my HID kit and ive done a few interior things since thats what i have always been good at with cars
**i know this isnt the best car to work with but its something id like to play with since i dont have the money to just go buy a newer car
What are some things i could do to improve my cars acceleration/speed/ect.ect.
Cause omw home from AC Class i got whooped by some Honda with a turbo killed my ego lol.
thx guys

Anything else besides that? lol
i havent taken it to the track to see my 1/4 mile time on her yet but im sure its high 17-18s since its stock besides the exhaust..
if i put headers/intake/Injectors/throttle body (idk about the Throttle body/injectors..i figure more air/fuel into the engine the more power.. but idk opinions plz) and flashed the ECU and picked up one of those Moduels that So called " increase your horsepower " how much you think that would help?

If your looking to get some good 1/4 mile runs out of it try changing the gears in the rear end to something like 410's that will improve your acceleration alot..

Ok.... I agree with the turbo statement... If all your planning on doing is i/h/e and ecu reflash, you wont need to upgrade your injectors. Most cars have a decent amount of head room (duty cycle) to work with, meaning your injectors will be able to flow a good amount of fuel before they are maxed out. If you want to change your gears, you would do it in the differential (final drive gear) located in the front of the car connect to the transmission housing since this is a front wheel drive car.
How much faster do you want to be?

i was told if i put gears in it my engine might not be able to handle it very long.
what about a new Throttle body also? or even just the spacer?
ive made few friends recently that have 13-15 second cars id like to be able to keep up
and im sure my little peice of junk is a high 17-18 second car.. i havent tested that yet i think im gonna go friday to see what my car does :>

theres really not much choices that are cheap. to keep up with your friends is going to take some money so if you just go ahead and turbo it they will the trying to keep up with you instead.

k ive done some searching and checked my Compression ratio of my car and i figure i can ru nabout 9-10lbs of boost without risking my engine soooo
ill buy the turbo kit for my car comes with the turbo/blow-off valve/intercooler/ all lines and hoses/other limiters and accesories id have to buy a boost gauge for my car but anyway 1,200 is how much it will cost.
looks promising haha
gonna have to refab my front of my car for the intercooler and while im doing that ima look into a new bodykit/spolier and i have a friend that owes me a favor im going to see if he will paint my car a purdy new color hehe

cold air intake
bigger throttle body and the throttle body spacer
all that extra air being put into my engine wouldnt bigger injectors be a plus

Along with the turbo and all that other good stuff I'd work on the ignition system. You should get a new coil pack, some NGK plugs and wires. That and reflash your ECU. The ignition upgrades would definately be a big help if your planning on trying to make alot of horse power. Another thing that would help would be some drivetrain mods like a lightweight driveshaft and crank and flywheel. Theres alot of different things you can do...it's all about how much money you have.
