I would recommend buying a LT1 Camaro. You can buy one for $7000 or less and start off bone stock with a low 14 second car.

You should go for a 240sx with an SR20DET!

I would start out with a 1st gen RX-7 for around 1500-2000 then buy a brand new rebuilt ported engine from atkins rotary for around $2500 then get the 7 inch super charger from camden supercharger $2500-3000(a sister company of Atkins)run around 16 lbs of boost (yes you could go higher with the boost but why blow the engine then be out a ton of money!).With 16lbs boost youll have tons of fun blowing away just about everything around as far as street racers go .Let me think a sec.....Ok ive been beat by a 05-06 vette that was souped up of course!!1 mustang souped up and a EVO which would be the second car id sudgest. my 80 model 7 has eaten just about everything else for lunch ,and remember when that guy with the mustang actually beats you he only beat a 1.3 ltr engine. Not much for bragging on his part when hes running 5.0 ltr or bigger same goes with the chevys and dodges

depends on your location i guess, but ive seen a few 99-01 civic Si's for around 8 grand and that would be nice. maybe not extremely fast, but tons out there and a great car suspension wise. heard theyre more expensive and tougher to find on the west coast though...
hey LT1 camaros/birds move haha. and they dont hold their resale value at all, so easy to pick up cheap. might even find an LS1 sorta cheap. but i guess if youre on this site, it isnt exactly your flavor
