You would probably be better off to just sell that car and get one with a v8 if thats what you wnat LS1s get better mileage and more power with less mods. If you really want to do a swap its not that hard I did one on my LS1 car the motor comes out the bottom pretty easy.

it would cost way more than 5 grand to do an engine swap in your car a base short block would be around 3500 by its self then you have to get everything to go with it. after you engine is done you would have to cut and re-weld heavyer motor mounts to fit the bigger block, after that you would probly need a new tranny factory chevy and pontiac trannys dont handle power very well. even more you would have to compinsate for the extra weight in the front end so then comes suspention and on and on.....ive owned 4 camaros all different gens and when you start getting in to engine power you start breaking everything els....

I have no idea about domestic, but at our shop we swaped a 2JZ into a trans am w/o much trouble. The only tricky part was wiring and the engine mounts were fabricated at the shop, but over all the swap was clean. Our labor is free though for you to get the same amount of work done id say about 3-5k for the install plus another 2-4k in parts and then of course the 4k for the engine if you got the money it is one bitchin ride...

Did anybody else notice that they put a 2jz into an F-body?

first of all ditch the ol half ass  LT1 and put an LS1  in that ***
and second the only way you get the same gas mileage from a carb is if it is a single or daul carb  witch are worthless if you get into dual 4 barrel carbs forget it

Old carb technology in an ever growing fuel crunch doesn't seem like a good thing to continue with. The way technology has grown in the past 20 years for cars, fuel injection is the only way to go. You can get the same, if not more, hp out of a fuel injected car than with carbs. Carbs are tuneable, granted, but who wants to deal with that when you can do a lot more with todays electronic set ups. They are more reliable, no matter what car the technology is in, and easily gives more miles per gallon than carb set ups. I don't know, but, it's direct fuel injection all the way for me...
