hmm, i wonder if they realize this is called profiling. i know many tuners that drive their cars, but only race at the strip. unless they catch you in the act, you are not guilty of street racing, and therefore should not be allowed to randomly check your engine. it is so retarded that the cops have that kind of power now. and it's not like i hate cops or anything. i have the utmost respect for them, they do have a very hard very dangerous job. but abuse of power is wrong. period. california really needs to grow the [censored] up. deal with the fact that kids like to tune their cars. if not for that, a lot of guys i know back home in chi town would be running in gangs, slangin dope, or getting mixed up in hard core highs(crack, meth, pcp, heroin) tuning your car is a victimless hobby, except for the guy you leave in your dust at the track. it's very simple. but no one seems to understand that unless they are into our hobby. oh well, just my 2cents.

yeah, not that i condone street racing, or for that matter any other forms of driving like a *** but this very much seems to be another way to profile and harrass a "certain" group of individuals

my biggest question is how is that not illegal/[censored] with people's rights and [censored]. i wonder what the editors think about this. if they even do(i'm sure they do as they drive cars such as that, and live in cali.)

you're missing the point - that's how it should be. here, the article is pretty clear when it states cars will be pulled over for no reason other than they fit the profile.

I hope that doesn't spread to Arizona. My car looks completely stock except for the muffler and ride height, but according to the article that's enough to impound my car. What crap!!

In Texas well where i live. theyre not too big on what you do to your car... i mean the only thing ive ever heard of any of my friends getting pulled over for is just a license plate not being on the front end. and on the wind shield. but other than exhaust being to loud or anything nope never had problems like that over here. but street racing they are real big on! ive gotten arrested. already and recieved a Class B misdemeanor. they wanted me to do 3 months at couty but i got off with 6 months probation and around $700 in fines. o and a night in jail haha..i also am aware that they are doing there best to bump the offense up to a felony so people can do up to 10 in state prison. so well i have had 3 very close friends die from street racing. following my incident. im not hating on anybody but i learned my lesson and ive now realized the danger u not only put urself in but others. while i do remember the feeling you get while racing its not worth a life. especially my three friends lives one of which had a 1 yr. old son. who no longer has a father. and the person he hit an killed. so no i no longer feel street racing is worth it. id suggest to everybody get your rush of adrenaline legally..on the Track. sorry to sound like im lecturing. im not taking the laws side or anything cuz i believe tuning our cars is not a crime. but ive lost friends that are close so i just feel ACTUAL RACING on the street is dumb...sorry people

in case no one figured it out, i'm with artemus on this one. no matter what you think you are, you are not 10 feet tall and bullet proof. at the same time i dont believe street racng is actually a large enough problem to warrant harrasment from police when no good reason is present.

damn i think thats *** yea i agree on stoppin street racing but to "begin cracking down on auto enthusiasts who modify their vehicles" is stupid
"The concept, which originated in San Diego in 2001, has been spreading throughout California generating significant revenue for the state and local departments" doesnt that sound like there doin it just for money? thats ***

that is why i love toledo. nice back road that we race on mile long and we have 1/4 mile spots to see who wins. and the cops find us and say hey break it and then 10 minutes later we start up again
