My personal opinion, feel how you want about it, speak your mind too. The original 64 GTO sux because, it was simply a big engine stuck into a small car of the time, sort of like a production hotrod, good concept, but all they did was stick a big engine in a little car, and at the time their little car was bigger than mine (a V8 Corolla, now that would be fast) and heavier too.  I won't argue that it looks cool, but when it comes to racing, the GTO is just not as fast as people believe, and is definitly overated.

And now on to the Camaro...

just playing I like it, no trash talkin here.

oh i'm sorry your wrong again.  the whole reason the pony car was introduced was so that muscle car fanatics that could not afford them could afford thier smaller makes.  not to beat them you [censored] *** bag.  here's an idea rice boy, do some damn research on a topic before spouting your mouth off.  and by the way, you have yet to counter my claim on greatest muscle car, so what is it?  it's not the camaro, cause that is a pony car.  btw, you put a stock muscle car against a stock pony car, muscle wins everytime.  ever hear of bullit?  i know, just a movie right?  during production, they had to attatch the mustang to the charger, why?  the charger was going to fast for the mustang to keep up.  why?  cause big block muscle beats small block pony every single time.

the best muscle car of all time if you can use the term loosly is the shelby cobra 427, any year you want, not only could it go really fast in the straight, but it could turn, brake and stil have a really high top speed of 165 for its time.

I'd have to disagree there CivicKing, I wouldn't classify the Shelby Cobra as a muscle car. I'd call it a straigt up sports car. It wasn't ever "affordable", nor was it in the muscle car class. It's awesome, and it ranks up there with some Ferraris and the like.

I'd have to say the best "muscle car" would be a 67 Corvette with the 427 (underrated around 500 factory hp) and the four speed tranny. Though being a Corvette, you could consider it a sports car, but probably also one of the baddest muscle cars ever.

i do do some research retard. Did i not say that pony cars were "cheaper". There for if theyre cheaper, there easier to afford. HA. And u say the Camaro was a pony car. U might wanna check into that before u go running ur mouth off. I kno for a fact its not. Chargers are good muscle cars and i had a friend race his charger against a GTO and the GTO had the hardest time just not losing sight of him. Why the hell are we talking about muscle cars anyways. Where supposed to be talking about why this guy hates american domestic drivers. BTW, u and i will never agree on muscle cars so im just gonna stop wasting my time. Besides, newer cars are so much better than those old things.

while the cobra is a sweet car, i would not classify it a muscle car.  it was a supercar, yes, but it was also a sports car.  muscle cars had backseats.  so the cobra wins out in the super/sports car class.  and yes, the cobra is the shite

my only mass dissagreement with you at this point is the camaro.  it was never a muscle car, it was a pony car, created to compete against the mustang in the pony class.  it is basic measurement really.  and i have nothing against pony cars, have owned one at one point, but give credit where credit is due.  and yes, detroit has not come out with anything good since the first oil crisis of the seventies.  why?  caue detroit refuses to take japanese technology into consideration.  top that off with the fact that they are putting all their time and energy into their trucks and suv's.  which makes me sad.  cause we could have some sick sports cars on our own shores if they would just use their time and money on the cars instead of the trucks.

oh, i'm not saying they are not cool, i'm merely saying that he should give credit where it is due.  i would never begin to think a pony car is crap, hell, the first car i tuned was a pony car.

we were talking about doing more research?? the only real technology that japan posseses over america is how to not get caught up in UAW bullcrap the americans know how to build a good car, the problem is that they cannot afford to for many reasons.  go to http://money.cnn.com and look up a few stories regarding gm's financial troubles they had.

as far as not having anything to show since the 70's?  um, 5.0 mustang?  largest aftermarket out there not counting the SBC.  yeah, that means bigger than honda .  LS1?  might be overhead valve, but it is a very thought out and thoroughly engineered piece.  its an excellent engine.  can anything from japan make 350hp or more and still get 30mpg on the highway??  not to mention (because i know everyone here is thinking it) OHC is OLDER tech than OHV.  anyone remember early 90's sport compacts from gm like the beretta gtz?  better handling and more power than anything from japan in the class back in that day.

i've owned almost 15 cars, from american to german to japanese.  at the end of the day i still like what japan offers best.  don't forget that america is where the love of the car really took off, and is still by far the worlds largest car market.  you have to give credit where credit is due.
