if i heard correctly, the s13/14 engines are pretty much drop-in's, but the S15 is very complicating to do. i think u should go for a full JDM S14 conversion, engine and body and all :-D

with all the performance parts available now for the k24, I'll stick with that. Don't underestimate the potential of the good ol' k. Plus you're not always guaranteed of getting a quality sr20det anyways because you might end up w/ a lemon engine.

yeah...good point....the KA, eh....its..um....big...heavy...and i heard it was easy to punch a hole through the side of the block...so i dunno...unless i get a bulletproof RB26DETT motor XD

I have a 1989 240 bought for $400 and spent $3400 for the engine transmission and complete rear cradle from a Silvia. I think the $37,000 budget is a little high. My friend a loyal Honda man just finished his first Nissan with a Blacktop swap it was a little harder than the redtop.
Heres pics of those swaps being done I take lots of pictures to show the progress.

Heres the new right hand drive RB project im working on now.

What ever swap you choose just be aware of the differences between the OBD1 and OBD2 engines as far as difficulty. OBD2 or S15 (blacktop) will have more sensors to wire up. You can go the easy route and send the harness off to be spliced like my friend did. The harness came back in beautiful condition and was completely wrapped from one end to the other just like factory.
Avoid the RB26Dett unless you have alot of money for the Skyline front clip like I used. I also had to change the motormounts to make the engine sit low enough to clear the hood.

Wow that is a list, and look at what your buying ARC,Kazama oil pan protector $148 Tomei Fuel pump kit $320 HKS F-Con V Pro $850 Greddy Metal 1.2mm head gasket $240 Toda forged piston kit 86mm Bore and Piston ring set $1350
Well i can save you some money right here: Walbro fuel pump comectic head gasket Cp pistons Crower Rods Power enterprizes oil catch can Kazama oil pan protector- delete that- Uhhh lets see dont waste the time on a F-con spend a little more and go AEM.
So there's a start
you need too go too the tamparacing forums and look up a Enthalpy(scott avoy) does tuning for S13's and S14's
Comp valve springs that will save you too.
Oh spend some more for a full race manifold, that megan will crack if you do alot of drifting and hard driving. Those welds are so thin. spend 1200 and get the full race. Also buy a downpipe with a flex joint in it, you have a HKS catback to a downpipe strait too a the turbo outlet pipe and then the turbo, no flex at all in the whole exhaust system, that's why the manifolds(the cheaper ones crack alot of times) b/c you have all the weight hanging on the manifold.
This is what i have and i'm already running 12's in the 1/4mile. 1995 240sx base model
S14 SR20DET Blacktop HKS piping kit HKS Type S front mount HKS green filter HKS Downpipe HKS super seq. b.o.v. Z32MAF sensor w/ tomei kit and harness Tomei/Nismo 555cc injectors Greddy boost controller Greddy Emanage w/ E0-1 Screen Mr. Gasket copper exhaust manifold gasket Apex N-1 Cat-back Cat-delete pipe J30 limited slip taka stainless steel turbo lines shaved flywheel spec stage III clutch B&M short shifter(obx is crap) Walbro fuel pump 255
i have just that and i'm running mid too low 12's in the 1/4mile and i'm still on the stock T28 although, it's not gonna get me any further until i upgrade the turbo.

Your using Greddy E-manage? It hasn't been out that long. What were you using as far as tuning goes before that? SAFC?
Do you guys have trouble sealing the cometic head gasket?

The greddy E-manage has been out for a while, and i made 273 wrhp at 15lbs of boost, when the e-manage. Unless your talking about the new black addition that is out, that has more features. Also so far no problems with the cometic head gaskets at all, i have two friends; 1 with a s14 with an s13 motor and another buddy of mine with a s13 coupe with an s13 motor, that are both running cometics' and they both have over 500 horsepower too the wheels. I'm only around like 310whp.

If you do the SR swap, your best bet would be the Red Top because it has the high port head. The Black tops may have more power from the factory, but due to the fact that they have a low port head they are unable to make as much power in the long run. The black tops have a low port head because they have variable valve timing, which you will negate once you drop in racing cams. Not only that, but they are cheaper and easier to come by. The only differences between the JDM and USDM S14's are the motor, and the JDM is RHD.
