I want to buy a car to work on. which would be a better choice a 1990 nissan 240sx or a 1990 eagle talon with a gen2 turbo? I want something that has a lot of upgrade options.

it really all depends on your preference. the 240 has a whole lot of potential, you just gotta be willing to pour some money into gettin a swap (sr20, rb25 or 26). Is the talon AWD or FWD? dsm's kick ass too, but you see, you'd be comparing a drift maching to a drag machine pretty much. just depends on what you wanna do with your car.

KA power does exsist, haha you dont see people drifting talons and drag racing 240 sx's do you? Driftings my deal and thats why i support them. Nothing wrong wtih a boosted AWD talon, but fwd is a whole different story.

I love my DSM, I wouldn't trade it for any other sport compact. I can honestly say that not because I have one, I looked at alot of different cars before I bought mine.

Here's why I belive the Talon is the truely superior and more fun vehicle:

1).stock vs. stock, the 4G63 engine in the Talon is superior in strength than the K series or the SR20 in the 240.

2)AWD owns your soul.

3) no need for engine swap- stock engine and internals good for 400hp easily.

4) factory turbo, obviously.

5)easy to find parts for

6) aftermarket support is incredible, as the technical information. Check out www.4G63HP.com www.dsmtuners.com or www.vfaq.com

7) who cares about drifting? I mean, in all seriousness, how often are you going to "drift"? You want a vehicle that is fun to drive.

I used to drift every weekend, and most of the week just driving home from work or my cousins. The J-Spec SR20 has a hellalot more potential then a talon. But thats obviously an engine swap, which is worth it, so i actually "drift" and I guess that makes me have a different preference in a car.

The SR20 isnt as strong as the 4G63 for a few reasons, the main one being that the SR20's block is made of aluminum, while the 4G63's engine is made out of cast iron. The 4G63 is alot more forgiving to detonation and overheating.

I don't know about the drifting stuff, but in general, the AWD is more practical for drag racing, and is just plain fun.

Also, cool thing, the "JDM" 4G63 is almost exactly the same as ours besides an intake manifold, so you don't have to swap to a Japanese spec. version to make power like a Honda or a Nissan. Our version IS the JDM.

ok..but still SR20's have tons of potential...i would know, i've exploited it!..lol but seriously..the only DSM i'd drive is a awd...cuz what good is a 4g63 transferring power to the front wheels???

Its a true drift engine verses a drag one. You cant really compare them.
I love how AWD can just rip someone off the line, but I lover how SR20's can take a beating and keep on eating,

When I decided that I would look for a DSM seriously to purchase, I decided that I would buy it ONLY if it was a first generation, and ONLY if it was all wheel drive.

Looking back, it was a good idea, and I knew what I wanted. But had I not found one AWD in the condition and price I wanted, I could have probably settled for a FWD turbo.

Put it this way, even though your FWD, your still leaps and bounds over the Honda crowd, and you still have the awesome 4G63 engine to toy with. And FWD can also make for a sick highway car.
