kk, so i bought a 1988 Mazda MX6 about a month ago
previous owners have taken great car of it and the car is in excellent condition (except for some minor body rust and the need for a new front bumper... hell, if someone can find me a body kit that be pretty sweet too)

I was too poor to spring for the GT model with the turbo (i paid $900 for the car then got $400 in fines about 20 minutes later)
i was happy with its overall performance for about a day and i want to get this thing movin more the way i want it too

problem is is that i can only find parts for the 2nd gen MX6 / 626 and i have no idea if those will go in or not
not exactly a huge selection for those one's either

startin to get edgy about this whole thing, thinkin of choppin it appart and droppin in the whole drive train from a 3rd gen Supra complete with a 7MGTE or 1jz (or *GASP* a 2jz?, either way, I'll make em fit) n makin this a rear wheel drive.

All my friends have told me a fricken idiot for even thinkin about it, but after drivin around an '84 Supra for 6 months, this whole front wheel drive business is kinda wierd for me. ANd too be honest i dont rlly like it.
Whole reason i bought this car is cause it was cheap n i needed a ride for the winter... but i've kinda grown attached to this pile of ... parts.

So back on topic, until i can finance and get the time to do my abomination of a conversion, can someone point me in the direction of some parts so i dont have to spring to get custom made? That be pretty pimp. If anyone is still reading this, thanx for listening to my mindless rambling.

i dont think your gonna find much for that car, and think it would be a huge waste of money to convert it to rear wheel drive. I will keep my open though.

haha, waste of money creating something that hasn't been done and what I want?
I've been told I was crazy from the beginning.
be about $1000 or less for a 3rd gen Supra parts car. Could probably even salvage a 1JZ clip from it. I joined the Alberta Surpa Club when I still had the '84 Supra, great bunch of guys/support/parts from them.

All I'd need then is time... another beater to drive around while the guts from these 2 lay about my garage.
I managed to find some engine mounts and a few suspension bits from AWR Racing.
Those should tide over my handling needs for now.
Lol it will happen.
With little to no logic and countless hours at a job that sucks to finance,  it will happen.

Nice thanks man.  Well it sounds like you have a good plan.  How much chassis modification is going to have to be done to convert it to rear wheel drive?

im sure I'll have to rip apart the frame from the back seats back n relocate the gas tank. Along with choppin up the front end too. There's already a nice channel straight down center to stick a driveshaft through so hopefully i wont have to hack up my interior. lol it might actually be easier to do a 4-link suspension in the rear then trying to transplant the suspension from a Supra. Gunna have to hack a nice big hole in my fire wall for the 6spd hydraulic transmission...

I'm sure I'll discover more that I'll have to murder to ge it to work when I actually start doin it. It's all doable. But for now im just throwin on some bolt on's for the stock 2.2L Inline 4. lol n get a new door n bumper. I just wanna see the look on Carter's face when I lay down lower ETs in my garage built '88 Mazda then he can get outta his Skyline GT-R :P

... or atleast Nads' CRX

Mmmmmmmmkay.. SO. After a few days of throwing around ideas with some ppl, we think we may have a plan...

We're gunna ditch the drive shaft idea for rear wheel drive. We're gunna get a hold of an JDM FE3 motor and move the whole thing to the rear end. Thats right, gunna rip out back seats, fuel tank and all that, welding together a new firewall and make it a rear/mid engine car, giving it crazy *** weight distribution like the MR2, n moving gas tank to under the hood. Figure we can use the shocks n struts from an RSX for the rear. It'll be grande. Stay tuned guys

I have an 88 gt also and parts are kind of hard to find due to the fact that this car is kind of a brain child set up for long haul speed set. To get clos to 300hp kick your boost to around 15 lbs but replace stock head bolts with non stretch types as they tend to pop their tops at around 190 mph. I have about 315 at 4300 rpm right now just with a t-54 turbo op from the stock t-48

Sweet deal man, I envy you. lol im soldiering on with the N/A DX model lol. I've been talking to Jeremy from Fast One Motor Sports in Vancouver. Hookin me up with a sweet coil over setup along with some other suspension bits for cheap. Don't want to invest too much into the engine for now (planning an FE3 swap in near future). Got my eyes on a Pakfeifer bodykit, ghetto fab pipes for "ram air" system, and maybe a 75shot fogger system from NOS... along with formentioned bits in previous posts. Really not lookin to spend more then $1000 in performance parts I won't be able to use again later when I completely change the configuration of this piece.
