Interesting Article, now we just need to factor in weight.

You can't compare a beautifully designed engine to a piece of *** engine that they decided to throw a turbo on.  That's my opinion

are you calling the vw a POS engine? ill take it over the honda, and i dont hate honda's anymore (ok, there was a time when i saw them as crap, but when you see the honda im around you woudl think so too. i know they can be quick though now)

im pretty sure he's referring to the Mazda motor.  the honda is the best engineered, and VW's quality has been rising in recent years.

he might just be jealous of its 260hp factory turbo motor...

Why is it that VW can't make real power with a turbo four banger? The test shows the GTI has 178whp where the Si has 180whp, same displacement but the GTI is boosted. They've always had this problem though, compare the B16 and B18 to the old 1.8T. The Mazda makes the most peak power but it doesn't have a constamt even flow of power throughout the powerband. Not to sound like a Honda cause there not perfect because hondas have always had problems with dispersing power in my opion. S2000 have to get up to 6000rpm to really be fast. D series motors are only quick under 2500rpm. H series are another low revving motor. But all in all i'll take the Civic over the other 2. Gotta love VTEC.

what the heck are you even talking about?  a turbocharger does not have anything to do with driveline loss lol.  seems like both the gti and the si are right on in their ratings hp rating, but of course the gti stomps the si in torque.

not to mention that the 2.0fsi is offered in 230hp guise in europe (in the gti 30th anniversary ed) and will be offered in 280hp guise in a near-future audi.

What the hell am I talking about, I'm talking about the 2.0T has less whp than than Si, if you couldn't figure that out then your a dumbass. It may have more torque but you need horses too so my whole point is that a turbo motor with the same displacement as an N/A motor should make more power but it doesn't and I really don't care whats being released in europe because its not USDM and this is what the discussion is about.

Besides who gives a *** about VW anyways, they're seriously under powered I mean ok there is a 230hp one being released in europe, ok now compare that to other turbo 4's, specifically the EVO's 276hp and the Sti's 300hp, like I said earlier VW needs to learn how to make power because they do a piss poor job of building a power plant

Oh and not to go on but when Audi releases a 280hp car then i'll be suprised but until then VW needs to go back to the drawing boards. And i'm not sure what you where trying to argue about driveline loss because the only thing i said abput that was about the mazda and i mentioned nothing of a turbocharger.

lol dude you dont even know what you are talking about, do you?  the two cars were separated by a whopping 2 hp on this dyno.  that is negligible.  what is very important is the 60 some extra tq of the vw, and if you dont think torque is important... lol.  if you dont believe me, rear the ragazine article.

they made their power in two different ways, and there's nothing wrong with that.  i guess if i wanted to act like a dipshit too, i might say something retarded like "oh what, the si only made 180whp but you have to rev it to the *** moon to get any power out." different strokes.

p.s. not that i need to toot vw's horn, but ever heard of the bugatti veyron 16-4, the 1001hp, 252 mph car, fastest production car ever?  i'll give you one guess who's engine is in the back of it

oh and not to go on... lol... just because a different manufacturer has a 280hp powerplant of the same configuration does not mean the first manufacturer has reached their design limits and just... can't... muster.. more power.    these cars have different priorities than the gti does.

OK don't even bring up the Veyron, 1 million dollars for a car that has less HP than my supra that costed me less than a 1/4 of the price not to mention the fact that you can buy a Henessey Venom Viper for $220,000 and it out performs the Veyron. No I stand buy what i said that VW needs to work on making real power because if the only real power you can offer is at a price that is out of 90% of people price range is just not realistic not to meantion they've got to be one of the ugliest cars i've ever seen.
