I was thinking about putting a turbo on my 1998 DOHC neon it is an automatic and I have only found one kit for it at hanh-race craft, this kit is expensive. Is there any turbo for about $1000 because my money is tight. Also will it be cheaper to build my own? And if so what parts would I need? I want to get the most bang for my buck but not destroy the engine with nos. Please help.

Well, it might be hard to find or build a kit for a $1000, I would expect to spend a little more, especially since your car is n/a and you are going to want to run a standalone ecu with a turbo kit.  It doesnt matter how you make the power, i.e nitrous, turbo, supercharger, n/a....  more power equals more stress on the engine. The main thing you need to be concerned about, besides the install, is the tuning. A car that is tuned correctly will create the extra power much more safely then one that is not.
