I think that the reason why your having a difficult time is because if someone paid to import a car from japan, he will probobly keep a hold of it

The company I work for has authentic RHD Honda Accord US Wagons for sale (currently just CF1, we are working on finishing legalization for CF2's at this time). You can see them on our website: www.righthanddrivejapan.com.
As for finding any "RHD" or "JDM" car for sale in the US as "street legal", be VERY careful. On the Department Of Transportation/National Highway Traffic Safety Administration website, they have a list of vehicles that are approved for importation TO BE CONVERTED TO COMPLY WITH DOT/NHTSA SAFETY STANDARDS (NOT automatically legal once they are imported). They also have a pending list of vehicles waiting to be ruled on whether they will be added to the approved list as well. When you import a vehicle that is already on the accepted list, there is a very long and expensive list of certifications, testing, and modifications that must be done to make each vehicle comply with US safety standards before the vehicle will be released by the DOT/NHTSA for leagal use and registration. However, that is JUST THE CHASSIS, not the engine and emissions systems. The vehicle then has to be modified to meet Environmental Protection Agencey emissions standards, along with undergoing the appropriate testing, then California Air Resources Board (CARB) approval if you are in a state that requires such approval. All-in-all, it is a incredibly expensive and time consuming undertaking to legally import a vehicle, especially now that practically ALL of the loopholes have been closed. You can't just pay someone to import a car for you and use it however you want. You can't even import a car as a "race car" or for "offroad use" without it being already fully built as a race car (that is directly from the DOT right there). So, all of these companies that are selling the shells w/o, or the vehicles as "offroad" cars are technically selling illegally imported vehicles, and you will be out a LOT of money if you get caught with one. Another word to the wise, just because the vehicle is on the list of approved vehicles, doesn't mean it's been 100% fully legalized yet. A great example of that is the R33 GT-R. It's on the list, but last we spoke to the DOT (about 2 months ago), no one has fully finished the chassis modifications and approvals. So when you see someone selling their R33 or R34, more than likely it was either imported illegally, or it was imported through a company that falsified documentation to the government and the owner was given a rare exemption for that vehicle since they tried to do it legally and the matter was not their fault. Which, that exemtion is good ONLY FOR THE ORIGINAL OWNER THAT REQUESTED THE IMPORT, so once they decide they don't want the vehicle any more the exemption expires and they must either crush or export the vehicle. Even conversions are very tricky and iffy.So once again, be VERY careful when looking for an imported vehicle, or doing a RHD conversion. It can end up becoming a huge headache if yo don't do it properly.

Well, the prices are that high mostly because of the cost of importing and legalizing the car for both DOT safety standards and EPA emissions standards. There is quite a lot of overhead that needs to go in to these vehicles to make them legal. But thank you for the compliment on our ideas. I do understand what you are saying about the USDM Type R though. These vehicles are mainly intended for postal carriers, as you stated, and not as much for the JDM/sports enthusiast. We are currently working on the SiR edition of the wagon (which is equipped with the H22) currently, and are gearing up to start working on an S15 Silvia in the next few months. As far as the Canada thing goes, that loophole has been closed for a very long time already.

I totally understand where you are coming from, and its good to get feedback and opinions from people. But there are a lot of Accord enthusiasts, or just plain Honda enthusiasts that just want a RHD Honda, no matter what model it is. We wouldn't just sell it to only mailmen if someone wanted it.

Also, like I said before, we are working on offering more than just Accords in the near future.
