I'm not a fan of the car, but you're right. I haven't seen many of them built and of the handful that I've seen, were built badly. The other small percentage of the ones that got my attention, and were built correctly, were AWSOME! There are few too many of them to appreciate, I guess. I wouldn't mind seeing more of them.

it's because they're rare. All the good ones have been blown out on drag strips and all the rest are FWD. I love the 3kgt it's my favorite car, but many don't really care much about it cuz it's so rare. Those who do know about how beastly it is can appreciate it but others haven't even heard about it, although they know what a skyline is. Another reason is that there are more performance parts  than cosmitic parts for is, so you won't see many pretty 3000gt's making it on feature car for SS. If you wanna see 3000gt's though read modified, there are always one or 2 in there each year.

I got to work on one today in my shop. Kind of ironic, isn't it? It was in very poor shape, though. I actually felt bad for it. It was a v6 and it looked like a turbo was shoe horned into it. The manifold looked like it was welded to repair a crack and the housing of the turbo was welded to the manifold. STUPID! I was a little upset about how messed up of a job was done to it. The body lines were good but it was dirty and it had dings all over it. The paint was faded, too. It was infuriating knowing that I have to fix all the mistakes made to it. I hate hackers.
At least the kid was willing to get it done right. A lot of parts were ordered and the car is going to visit a body shop after I get every thing I need to get up and running as it should, like a monster. He purchased it second hand and wanted to bring it back to life. My boss has made it my pet project. The kid is his best friends' son, so I'm pressed to do it right. Not that I mind, though. The car has potential to be a killer. I'll get it there.

well miamoto i have a theory. they are not as popular for the same reason as you said, there are not a lot of cosmetic options. personally ive never liked the looks of it stock so that definately doesn't help but a kid i know has one with lambo doors and in good shape and its not to bad i must say

My friends shop that built my car (www.FSR motorsports.com) specializes in 3000GT's and are about to break into the 10's with one that is daily driven. We will see if they can do it this weekend at IDRC. Enjoy the video and pics below.

Why respond to a post that's two years old? Eh, I guess there's not much to respond to lately with the forums being as slow as they are. It's supply and demand. So many people submit their cars to be featured and they pick the best out of the bunch along with a few hand chosen ones they see at events. If there aren't any 3000gt's being featured it's because there are none out there that are being submitted, or the ones being submitted aren't 'there' yet.

Maybe it's the effects of working all day and never really winding down till you hit the sack. It happens to me. I didn't see the date either. It's still a valid thread, though. I wouldn't mind seeing more of them around. The one that carcass gave links to are spectacular. The VR-4 done by FSRMotorsports doing 11s is fantastic. Makes me rethink why I don't fancy them again. I'm partial to them now. I guess it takes one done right to make me take a second look. LOL! It's all good!
